Sonam Kapoor In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture – GQ India ‘Men of the Year’ Awards

Sonam Kapoor In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture - GQ India 'Men of the Year' Awards

Sonam Kapoor attended the GQ India fifth anniversary ‘Men of the Year’ Awards ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday.

The Indian beauty wore an exotic Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2013 Couture creation with sculptural pockets and light-gold embellishments all over.

I’m almost breathless from this outstanding look. The OTT earrings and slicked-back bun were the perfect way to style this look.

Clearly she was going for a diva moment, and she nailed it! Her styling, though identical to the runway, is spot-on. She looks like the Queen of the red carpet jungle.

I love that she wore a “man-repelling” outfit (at least, most of my guy friends would think those pockets were crazy) to the GQ Men of the Year Awards. That’s called owning it.

Lol-ed soo much at this comment!

What amazes me is that this look could’ve ended up looking way too trashy, yet Sonam is able to exude a sense of class and sex appeal whilst still in keeping with the original chic-ness of the look.

My only qualm about this look is that with the wrong pose (as in the above) her torso looks wider due to the access/loose fabric. A different pose (like the runway model) would have had a better effect.

Nonetheless she looks like a true D.I.V.A (pronounced DEE-VAA in the tone of the late Whitney Houston ;)

There are many more pics on the world wide web which have poses that give a much better shape and look to the dress. I wish Fashion Critic could attach the pic in which Sonam has her hands in those pockets/bags , like the model.

i don’t like this at all – the whole thing just overwhelms her. makes her head look small in comparison.

I CANT HANDLE THIS MUCH GREATNESSS!!!!!!! OMGGG FINALLY, GOD IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG SINCE I HAVE TRULY BEEN MESMERIZED BY A RC LOOK. BDOTW! My first bdoty contender at last!!!

I disagree completely. The proportions of the top just don’t go with the skirt. She looks like she’s competing in a potato sack race.

    • kane October 2, 2013 at 09:08 #

That’s my biggest problem as well. She’s obviously a stunning lady, but that cut with that print… no thanks.

    • dee October 2, 2013 at 14:01 #

I agree. Not really liking the dress.

I don’t think this dress is doing her body any favours. Also, it’s just too much animal print for me.

    • Yeliz October 2, 2013 at 14:49 #

      Ditto.

The dress looks much beter on the runaway.

There is not one thing I like about this look. Besides, what a terrible lighting for a photograph. All yellowish ,giving an “aged” effect.

Don’t like the dress on the runway or on Kapoor. Not the fault of the model or Kapoor; both are working it. The dress simply doesn’t flatter the wearer imo and definitely does not appeal to me.

  12. Denise October 2, 2013 at 09:34 #

I don’t like the oversized pockets, they are plain unflattering. This could have been a great look.

  13. Lila October 2, 2013 at 10:25 #

I think that this is an awesome look made up of really ugly pieces. The dress is neither flattering nor pretty on its own but it does make an incredibly fierce look with the styling.

  14. Anne October 2, 2013 at 12:23 #

I find this gaudy and ridiculous.

    • Nat39 October 2, 2013 at 18:27 #

      Same thoughts. Gaudy, tacky, overwhelming.

      • EmmaWoodhouse October 5, 2013 at 21:01 #

Glad someone agrees with me. This looks does nothing for me and it’s SO loud.

  15. Joy October 2, 2013 at 13:03 #

Yeah, I gotta confess I don’t get it. I mean I get the OTT animal print, but I just can’t get on board with those POCKETS! I love everything about the look if we could scale back those pockets. They just make the whole thing look weird. Sonam can pull this look off better than anyone else however.

  16. Marina October 2, 2013 at 14:33 #

FINALLY some action! Everything is so pretty and put together. I missed this!

    • Marina October 2, 2013 at 14:34 #

      I meant everything else.

  17. Megha October 2, 2013 at 15:06 #

Those earrings just take the look from ‘I may like it’ to ‘I hate it’ for me
it’s too over the top and i can’t get on board with copying the runway look to that extent

  18. Sarah October 3, 2013 at 00:05 #

Sonam you can do no wrong! BDOTY!

  19. Rebecca Z October 3, 2013 at 00:23 #

I am on the negative side of this ledger. Not feeling it.

  20. Parvati October 4, 2013 at 10:23 #

I don’t like this dress at all. It looks better on the runway, but still, the silhouette and the print make it impossible for anyone to pull this off.
