Following two black looks I was delighted to see Carey Mulligan wearing colour for the ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ press conference held at The London Hotel in New York on Sunday.
The British actress wore an Erdem Resort 2014 chiffon layered dress with bright colour splashes within the classic houndstooth pattern.
While some of you are happier with this brunette hue, I think it ages her quite drastically.
Nice to see some makeup applied on this occasion.

So pretty. I think she was better as a blonde, but she looks young and cute again here.
I love the dress. Her hair is understyled–I can live with the color.
I quite like this dress on her and her hair colour.
I really like her hair like this, I think that it breaths life to her face and it’s more youthful. I also like her makeup here and this romantic, etheral dress. Much improved.

Agreed about the hair. Wished we can see more hair styles from her. This look is an improvement.
It’s not black, but it’s still not working for me.
I disagree, on the contrary, brunette hair makes her look (and it’s known to do so for most women) so much younger and fresh- compare with this:

Love this look.
I think she looks lovely. It’s not such a dark brown. Strangely, she looks younger to me like this. She reminds me of the days she was playing Kitty Bennet.

I think she looks very cute and younger! I don’t think her natural color ages her, since I think that blonde hair washes her out.
Love the dress, when it comes to prints Erdem is one of the best.
Agree completely. The blonde hair made her look tired and the shorter hair made her look older. The darker color actually makes her look younger as does the thicker eyebrows. Also, her hair looked super damaged when blonde and even short.
I think people are mistaking a mousy stance and dowdy hairstyle for an older look. They’re completely different.
I like her with long hair, but I agree that a blonde hair colour would work better for her.
Also, this dress is great for her.
I like her as a blonde WAY better also. It just brightens up her face and her overall presence so much. The brunette does age her, and makes her look a little bit mousy also. I am rather excited-and shocked-to see her in something so colorful. I really like this, and this proves why we all clamor for her to be more adventurous on the red carpet. It works wonders for her. Now how do we get her old hair back??
You said it all.
I completely agree.
She looks so much better as a brunette with longer hair (extensions?) It breathes more life to her looks. I also like the dress itself. It’s a nice change from all those black jumpsuits…
