MFW Spring 2014 Red Carpet Wish List

MFW 1

Alberta Ferretti: Ariel Winter would look totally adorable on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards wearing this pretty floaty floral piece.

Bottega Veneta: There are a few tricky pieces in this collection that may not translate too well on the red carpet; however, I can see Maggie Gyllenhaal wearing this look. She has a tendency to veer towards shapeless dresses, so this could work well for her.

MFW 2

Dolce & Gabbana: There was a lot of familiarity when looking at this collection, as the designers never steer too far from their beloved florals and lace. This fishnet dress would look amazing on a few people. At first I had Emma Stone in mind, but then I changed my choice to Felicity Jones.

Emilio Pucci: This has to be my favourite Pucci collection in a long while. The likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Rita Ora, Kylie and Miley would’ve been purring when they saw this collection. But in saying that, none of the above sprang to mind when I saw this printed gown. Keira Knightley did. While that may be controversial, I would like to see her do something beyond the expected. This is a wish list, after all.

MFW 3

Fausto Puglisi: As you know, I have developed a bit of a style crush on Shay Mitchell. I would love to see her work this yellow-and-black plunging dress with those baby-blue shoes. The yellow would look amazing against her olive skin tone.

Gianfranco Ferré: The brand has been M.I.A. from the red carpet yet it produces amazing collections season after season. I would love to see Olivia Wilde wearing this ivory dress featuring fold details. In her current form she would easily work this tricky piece.

MFW 4

Giorgio Armani: There were plenty of pretty pink frocks with swishy hemlines in this collection. Allison Williams always seems to favour the fit-and-flare silhouette, so this would make for a refreshing change. The only condition is that she wears her hair up.

Gucci: With one look already crossed off the list, I would love to see this berry-hued jumpsuit on Gwen Stefani. She’s never been afraid of wearing bold colours and she has the right attitude to pull this off.

MFW 5

Jil Sander: We haven’t seen much of Jil Sander on the red carpet since the designer returned to the helm. Hopefully she will allow Emma Stone to wear this minimalist white dress during her promo tour for ‘The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man 2’.

Prada: Looking at the Prada collection, my first question was “What will Anna Wintour wear?” I have a feeling we won’t see much of this collection on the red carpet as celebs can be a bit multicolour and print shy. Miss Rainbow of Colour Rihanna would look amazing in this strapless beaded confection.

MFW 6

Roberto Cavalli: We’ve seen from Cannes Film Festival that Roberto likes to keep his most spectacular gowns off the runway. While some might thing this pale-pink degrade gown would wash out Jessica Chastain, the model proves that pale skin and red hair are a perfect match for this gown.

Versace: I had an internal discussion with myself about who would look more amazing in this dress: Gwyneth Paltrow or Jessica Biel. In the end I went with the latter.
