Zooey Deschanel In J. Mendel – 2013 Emmy Awards

Zooey Deschanel In J Mendel - 2013 Emmy Awards

Zooey Deschanel brought her own silver lining to the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California today.

The ‘New Girl’ starlet turned up the sophistication in an icy, silver-blue J. Mendel Resort 2014 structural gown with a keyhole neckline, an asymmetrical folded detail at the waist and thigh-high slit.

To the dress, which successfully complemented Zooey’s own baby blues, she added silver Charlotte Olympia platform pumps, a Chanel door-knocker gemstone ring and a super-glittery Edie Parker clutch.

Her voluminous, beauty-pageant waves were juxtaposed by some of the actress’s signature quirk that we know and love—her manicure. She had her nails done in a black-and-white domino effect.

  • Dated and ages her.

  • Neli

  • Yeliz

The gown looks a bit cheap and dated and the hairstyle is aging her. I only like the clutch.

  • amy

lovely dress but the hair is just terrible. She needs to change it, just do something.

  • KatieKate

I love how sophisticated she looks, for a change, but she really needs to ease up on the helmet hair. Had she pulled some of it, at least, off of her face, this would be perfection.

  • Love the dress on the model. Like it on Zoey. The prom hair is just so wrong.

  • Linda

She looks beautiful. I’d love to see some new hairdos in the future.

  • EmilyBowen

Personally I love this look on her. It’s fresh but has a vintage attitude. It reflects the woman who is wearing it and that’s an important part of ‘red carpet’ dressing I feel.

    • dee

      I agree.

    • Anissa

I agree. It’s retro quirky so it works for her vibe but it’s still not just the same thing she always wears. I love it!

  • julyol1972

Wish her hair was in a pony-tail. The dress is edgier than her usual silhouette and photographed so much better on TV.

  • Moxie

Gorgeous dress , but I wish she’d worn her hair up.

  • EmmaWoodhouse

This is a really heinous bridesmaid’s dress. She looks luminescent neck-up, but the dress…no.

  • this is another prime example of ” lack of presence” killing a potentially awesome look.
The model is selling this to me soo hard I ador eit but on Zooey, it starts looking cheap and aging and just ugly.

  • Kathy

The hair is a tad bit cheesy with her bangs, but I actually like this. Wasn’t expecting Zooey to wear an edgier silhouette.

  • NOOOO!! This could have been an amazing look, a total departure from her princess-y dresses but her hair and clutch prevented this look from being a knock out. An updo or sleek ponytail and a simple clutch was all it would have taken!!!

    • Alina

    • kane

I quite like the clutch, but otherwise I completely agree.

  • Lia

She looks gorgeous. I love everything about this dress.

  • Christine

This dress and this material just looks so cheap to me.
