Julianne Hough In Jenny Packham – 2013 Emmy Awards

Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough took a major fashion risk when she hit the red carpet of the 2013 Emmy Awards.

The actress and former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ professional dancer wore a ethereal Jenny Packham Spring 2014 gown.

Julianne is a loyal devotee of designer Jenny Packham, and while the two usually create magic together, this one just doesn’t work for me.

The bare legs peek-a-boo effect just isn’t elegant, and I so wish there was a lining here, because everything else about this gown is perfection.

Julianne complemented her look with a Daniel Swarovski vintage crystal and pearl ‘Opus’ clutch, soft waves and glossy pink lips.

Tragic and very sad looking. This is a no honey.

    • Christine September 23, 2013 at 03:02 #

Reminds me of ice skating with the stars. Not a good look.

Looks like a 50s swimsuit n cover up on her- shame would have been pretty with lining.
Her hair is terrible too!all around fail.

  3. mandy September 23, 2013 at 03:05 #

Trying so hard and again failed terribly. Had she lined the dress, i might actually like it. TRAGIC HONEY, TRAGIC !

  4. Lisa September 23, 2013 at 03:06 #

Lining the dress would have made a big difference.

    • Camille September 23, 2013 at 16:03 #

Exactly!! Hate this sheer skirt look. Hopefully this is a trend that will quickly fade away.

  5. EmmaWoodhouse September 23, 2013 at 03:06 #

UGH. If only she’d lined it, I would have loved it!!! Grimacing as it is.

      +1

I do not see the bare legs as a huge issue, it may not be the best but doesn’t make the look horrible, I love this on her, lined or not.

She styled the whole look so poorly. I get the vibe that effortless styling was what she was going for, but it doesn’t work for a sheer dress. This ended up looking lazy and relied too much on the sheerness of the skirt for attention and focus. Not good.

  8. KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 03:23 #

Oh no…oh NO! This could not have been saved–from the sheerness to the granny panties, the droopy bodice, that weird hair…just bad. Really, really bad.

      ITA.

    • Yeliz September 23, 2013 at 10:54 #

      ITA as well.

I love love love this look on the runway, unlined and all its a fabulous look on the model. My only issue with Julianne is the way it sits on her bust, she has too much boobs for this look. Had she worn this as well as the model I would be jumping up and down, this whole underwear showing thing is huge right now and when done right I am totally for it.

Her hair and makeup is beautiful and the dress might have worked had they lined it before sending it to her! It’s tacky and inappropriate for the Emmys….it might’ve worked at an award show like the VMA’s but the Emmys? She just looks desperate

  11. Jasmin September 23, 2013 at 03:53 #

This dress does Julianne Hough, who has an incredible body, no justice. It makes her look heavier in the hips. Bad choice tonight.

  12. Kathy September 23, 2013 at 04:04 #

The dress looks like it’s ready to fall off of her torso, and that added to the sheerness of the skirt equals complete tacky.

  13. kelgirl105 September 23, 2013 at 04:12 #

I can’t agree more– I wish there had been a lining under her skirt! She could have easily been one of the top contenders for BDOTE if so! But, as is, I just can’t find anything to love about this look!

  14. Molly September 23, 2013 at 04:31 #

She looks GORGEOUS but the transparency of the skirt just blows the whole effort

  15. Rashmi September 23, 2013 at 04:45 #

Wrong event!!! I don’t mind the sheerness. Infact was one of my fav look from the collection, but wearing it to Emmy it looks tacky :-(

  16. Loretta September 23, 2013 at 06:01 #

tacky. would look better if the bottom is not sheer.

  17. Aline September 23, 2013 at 06:23 #

Ok, I may be alone in this, but I LOVE IT! Maybe it’s not appropriate for the Emmys, but I can’t afford to care because it sure awakened me from the snoozefest that was this red carpet. I think she looks sensational.

    • Sara September 23, 2013 at 10:57 #

      I love it too!

    • CreoleLady September 23, 2013 at 12:12 #

+2. I love it too, a perfect Grammys look. Hair, color, curves, beautiful.

    • snowlion September 24, 2013 at 12:18 #

      Completely agree!

  18. Marty September 23, 2013 at 07:01 #

    What?!

  19. kane September 23, 2013 at 07:09 #

It looks like it would just need a bit of adjustment for the camera because certain parts have moved up or down, but sadly that’s actually the dress. No.

  20. AG September 23, 2013 at 08:33 #

What could have been a beautiful look is ruined by her hair and the fact that she didn’t line the dress. WHY would she not line the dress???!!

  21. amy September 23, 2013 at 09:01 #

line the dress, fix the hair and we have a winner.

  22. Noemi September 23, 2013 at 09:01 #

I’m not crazy about the hair, but the dress is fabulous! I’m in love with it!

  23. Alicat September 23, 2013 at 09:50 #

Two sheer dresses in a row. Kate Mara shows how it’s done. This looks a bit try hard and sad.

  24. The Dame Intl September 23, 2013 at 12:21 #

I actually love this provocative take on a 50′s look.

  25. La-Shaun September 23, 2013 at 15:29 #

    I love this!!

  26. Camille September 23, 2013 at 16:05 #

looks like she’s wearing an elaborate bathing suit and cover up. Love the color, but the sheer skirt is a big fail for me.

  27. Rebecca Z September 23, 2013 at 16:25 #

I am on the fence. I usually detest the big panties look–maybe I don’t hate this as much because she is a dancer and it looks spectacular on her in the photos of her dancing with her brother. I love her hair and her attitude–but this would work better as performance attire than for this kind of occasion. The color is amazing on her.

  28. Jess2 September 25, 2013 at 11:52 #

The sheerness of the skirt just ruins the entire look.
