Sarah Jessica Parker In Prabal Gurung & Olivier Theyskens – New York City Ballet 2013 Fall Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker In Prabal Gurung & Olivier Theyskens - New York City Ballet 2013 Fall Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker attended the New York City Ballet 2013 Fall Gala held at David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center in New York City yesterday evening.

Her gown has been called a ‘Meeting of Two Minds’ as it was a joint collaboration between Prabal Gurung, who created the pale-pink satin bustier inspired by his Spring 2014 collection, and Olivier Theyskens, who custom made her pink silk-organza ball skirt accented with a tie at the waist.

SJP is a huge fan of both designers’ work, so it was quite apt that they created such a beautiful gown for her for this occasion.

While I love the silhouette and the idea behind the look, I can’t help but wonder if I would’ve loved this look more had the top and bottom half been an identical match in colour and fabric; however, I am leaning more towards the charm being that they are different.

Her look was styled with a simple ponytail, Fred Leighton diamond drop earrings, vintage diamond rings and a Fenton-Fallon pave palm cuff.

Not too fond of the dress. The top is not fitting right and the skirt is totally boring.

Fugly dress. I mean what is this?

  2. Valissa September 20, 2013 at 09:47 #

I would’ve liked the dress more if the top fit better and the skirt wasn’t creased. But she herself looks beautiful and her hair and makeup is perfect!

its a little too Sugar plum fairy for me-and i truly dislike the triangle breast tips-they look like toast points.

    • KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 00:10 #

Yeah, even though the dress has grown on me, I have to agree. Lol! Toast points or not, I think this is an interesting, even ‘avant garde’ look, which gets thrown around a lot, but I feel is actually true in this case. I came to appreciate it more seeing it from the back and in profile. I think this is a look that possibly only SJP could carry off, which makes me like it even more, b/c it feels very couture, or just special for her.

It took TWO designers to create this dress? I don’t get this look at all.

    • KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 00:10 #

Too many cooks in the kitchen?? :-)

It is certainly not a groundbreaker in design or making but it is totally fine and correct for the event.
She looks lovely and the make up is the best I have seen in a long time.

    Ugly and unflattering. Period.

  7. Yeliz September 20, 2013 at 13:23 #

    This is one cheap-looking gown.

    • EmmaWoodhouse September 20, 2013 at 14:13 #

Yes, I’m very unimpressed! Those two designers are usually fabulous–this is an ill-fitting prombomb.

  8. dee September 20, 2013 at 13:24 #

    I don’t like the gown.

  9. kane September 20, 2013 at 13:24 #

I don’t like anything about this, but what really stands out for me is the horrible eye make up.

    • elaine2 September 20, 2013 at 14:32 #

Her eye makeup in recent years has only served to make her eyes look unusually smaller than the days when she played Carrie on Sex And the City. The hairstyle doesn’t do much for her either, it makes her long face look even longer.

Not a fan of the dress at all. It could land in the Worst of the Week category, right along with some others we’ve seen today. (Natalie Portman, I’m looking at you….)

It looks like a Project Runway challenge.

  11. Rebecca Z September 20, 2013 at 15:59 #

I actually like it. It isn’t the most beautiful look ever from her, but it is fun and flattering. And for once she didn’t over accessorize, though I really don’t see the point of a palm cuff.

two awesome designers come together and this is what happens??? let this be what stops all designers from ever collaborating with each other cause this dress is hideous.

  13. Nat39 September 20, 2013 at 17:51 #

I think it’s absolutely charming and SJP wears it beautifully. A perfect enchanting look for the ballet gala.

      +1

Sorry, but I think Sara is another one of those celebrities we give TOO much credit to fashion wise. Yes, she can/has looked spectacular, but this is not one of those occasions. I think this would be considered horrible on anyone else. Frankly, all I see is Playboy playmate bunny ears when I look at it.

How do you call this dress style or model?

  16. Dlr September 21, 2013 at 02:11 #

How do you call this kind of top?

    • KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 00:13 #

Strapless. More specifically, I think you’d have to ask Prabal, b/c it’s a new one for me.

  17. Dhppy September 21, 2013 at 06:55 #

I like it except for the overdone aspects on the top. I’m lost in the maze around the breasts.
