Front Row @ Tory Burch Spring 2014

Front Row @ Tory Burch Spring 2014

Tory Burch’s Spring 2014 show, held today during New York Fashion Week at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, saw a charming and fresh set of exits parading down the watery-blue catwalk. The ladies in the front row launched their own charm offensive, too.

Emmy Rossum: The actress was the epitome of preppy-chic in her navy-blue Tory Burch Resort 2013 ‘Sandy’ lace-embellished sweater and ‘Davis’ leather leggings. She adorably styled the look with Tory Burch’s ‘Gracie’ pumps, the ‘Sparkle’ square frame clutch—and a perfect red lip. But her best accessory may have been her camera, as she snapped away documenting all the runway action.

Rashida Jones: Wearing a veritable garden bouquet, the actress put on a blooming ‘Kaley’ dress that also hailed from the Tory Burch Resort 2013 collection. Pointy, black gladiator-inspired heels, as well as a bold red clutch and crimson lippie, were punchy if not slightly harsh counterpoints to the pastel mini-frock.

Anna Dello Russo: The fashionably eccentric editrix skipped the Tory Burch trend, instead showing us a Saint Laurent Fall 2013 dress. The pink rose-patterned frock was just too twee, even with its black bow and those heavily embellished, studded black boots, which couldn’t put the rock star in this look.

Jessica Chastain In Dolce & Gabbana – TIFF HFPA/InStyle Party

Jessica Chastain In Dolce & Gabbana - TIFF HFPA InStyle Party

Jessica Chastain joined Jennifer Morrison and Emilia Clarke at the InStyle & Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual party, hosted by Salvatore Ferragamo during the Toronto International Film Festival at the Windsor Arms Hotel on Monday.

The actress selected a Dolce & Gabbana cocktail frock in a shadowy petrol hue to set off her fiery red locks.

Although the black lace-tipped doily design wasn’t my favourite piece I’ve seen on Jessica, the styling didn’t do much to elevate the look either.

Plain black pumps, simply styled locks and barely-there makeup, with just a brush of pink lipstick, fell a bit flat from a distance.

Maria Bello In Donna Karan – ‘Third Person’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Maria Bello In Donna Karan - 'Third Person' Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Maria Bello again hit the Toronto International Film Festival for the ‘Third Person’ premiere yesterday at the Winter Garden Theatre in Canada.

After making an earlier cozy-glam entrance at the ‘Prisoners’ premiere, the actress suited up in a structured Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2013 dove-grey ensemble.

The tailored separates were set off by a wide obi-like belt at the waist. However, I would have cut the pencil skirt to just below the knee, as seen in the lookbook.

Gio Dev beige lizard and black patent high-rise pumps with ankle cuff detail would have also benefited from the bit of breathing room that a shorter skirt would have allowed.

Jennifer Morrison In Max Mara & Monique Lhuillier – Toronto Film Festival

Jennifer Morrison In Max Mara & Monique Lhuilier - Toronto Film Festival

Jennifer Morrison didn’t miss the Toronto International Film Festival action either, as the ‘Once Upon A Time’ actress descended upon Canada for a trio of appearances over the last few days.

‘Gravity’ Premiere: The star walked down the red carpet for the Sunday premiere at Princess of Wales Theatre in a Max Mara white top and navy long skirt. The ensemble was rather safe, but just became strange when worn with the combination of a fishtail side braid, Christian Louboutin leopard pumps and a bubblegum-pink clutch.

‘August: Osage County’ Premiere: Unfortunately, I was getting the same lacklustre, daresay mumsy, vibes with Jennifer’s outfit at this premiere, hosted on Monday at Roy Thomson Hall. The washed-out blush-pink hue of her jacket and dress just didn’t do anything for this vibrant actress’s enviable figure, and the black clutch was far too intense.

InStyle & Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual TIFF Party: For yesterday’s event, hosted by Salvatore Ferragamo at the Windsor Arms Hotel, she got into the soiree spirit with an electric blue Monique Lhuillier strapless dress. Its embellished frothiness was complemented by a waist-cinching black sash. No need to look up or down, as the same topknot and black clutch from her second look were still in place; so too were those Louboutin leopard soles.

If I had to choose a favourite, it would be the Monique Lhuillier dress, minus the triple-play animal-print pumps that were paired with it.
