Nina Garcia In Alexander McQueen – 2013 Couture Council Artistry of Fashion Award Luncheon honoring Michael Kors

Nina Garcia In Alexander McQueen - 2013 Couture Council Artistry of Fashion Award Luncheon honoring Michael Kors

The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology honoured Michael Kors with its 2013 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion yesterday afternoon, and Nina Garcia joined Anna Wintour, Iman, Lily Aldridge and several other guests to celebrate the achievement.

Unlike most of the attendees, Nina opted to wear an Alexander McQueen cape-back padded-shoulder dress with a wide belt in a gorgeous lavender hue.

I just love the electrifying colour of this subtly dramatic piece, which she styled with Alaïa black sandals and a dark-purple Nancy Gonzalez clutch.

Even though there were many well-dressed ladies at this event honouring the designer in stylish form, Nina was my best dressed at the event.

i’m curious about the social rules of this set. for example, i wonder how big (or non-existent) a faux pas it’s considered to attend an event honoring one designer while wearing another?

I know, I really wonder too. And I’m especially surprised that Nina, of all people, didn’t wear MK since she works with him on Project Runway and all. I have found that at fashion shows, while the guest celebs wear the featured designer, editors in attendance typically do not. Which makes sense, b/c the celebs are loaned clothes by the designer, specifically with the intent of being photographed, publicity, etc., whereas the editors are just there to do their job. Idk anything other than what I’ve observed, but I find it particularly interesting.

I simply adore this dress. I loved Jenna Elfman bold red-and-black version of it, and I love it in this gorgeous lavender color, and I’m completely sold on the original sharp structure of the dress. It’s one impactful little dress. Her styling is perfect. J’adore.

Omg, if I could wear this color every day, I would. The dress is OK but the color …! Pure, delicious eye candy goodness.

I love everything about this–especially the beautiful iris purple color. But the dress, itself, is a really cool design as well. BDOTW nom for me.
