Emma Watson In Balenciaga – GQ Men Of The Year Awards

Emma Watson In Balenciaga - GQ Men Of The Year Awards

Emma Watson joined Jessie J with a modish midriff moment at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted at The Royal Opera House in London this evening.

The young actress showed off a wide swath of toned skin in a Balenciaga Resort 2014 ensemble, featuring an ivory silk serge bolero top worn with boyish black trousers in cotton canvas and black sequin sling-back heels.

Rosy-hued makeup provided a feminine counterpoint to the more mannish angles of the look, as well as the exaggerated, architectural detail of the sculptural top.

As we start to see the signs of fall, the cropped-top trend shows no sign of waning.

I really like the top half, but the pants + shoes don’t really work for me.

  2. H September 3, 2013 at 21:39 #

I really like the top, but my issue is with the fitting or the pants/shoes in general, the rest is okay.

  3. Nat39 September 3, 2013 at 21:41 #

The top just looks odd rather than cool and edgy, and would’ve preferred sleeker fitted pants.

    • Yeliz September 4, 2013 at 16:40 #

      I agree.

This just made me laugh. Nice try, Emma, next.

      • Christine September 5, 2013 at 03:17 #

LOL. This is so not her look

  5. Val September 3, 2013 at 21:45 #

This look reminds me one Kristen Stewart’s look… Kristen was better, I don’t really like the top and the shoes are terrible!!!

If Emma wore a dress or skirt with this I would not like it because it would be showing too much skin. I think the pants with the back mostly covered was enough. I like the look, but am not in love with it. She gets a passing grade, she just didn’t ace it

  7. TeaAtTwo September 3, 2013 at 22:32 #

    The top just looks stupid.

  8. michaboa September 3, 2013 at 22:40 #

She looks very awkward in this. The pose is adding to the awkwardness factor. I like the top, just not on her.

    • Mandy September 4, 2013 at 01:31 #

Agree. I dont think she has the right attitude to pull this off.

  9. Lyo September 3, 2013 at 23:02 #

People need to stop confusing edgy and avantguard with just plain fu@#$ing ugly…

    • Prudence September 3, 2013 at 23:07 #

ahah I feel you. this is straight up nasty. This is not fashion, this is a hot ass mess and someone should have told this poor girl she looked like a damn line backer in a crop top.

        +1

  10. Betelgeuze September 3, 2013 at 23:12 #

Ouch. The more I look at this assemble and try to find something good about it, the more I dislike it. I really like Emma, but this look… just no.

  11. KatieKate September 3, 2013 at 23:29 #

Idk, I kind of like it, just b/c I really dig the architectural style of the top. But I can’t help but imagine how incredible it would be as a knee length dress. Just extend the top into a longer, tailored shift, and voilà: perfection!

  12. Rebecca Z September 3, 2013 at 23:40 #

Interesting idea (kinda) but not working. Just made me laugh.

  13. Jess September 4, 2013 at 00:25 #

the top is great but not on her and not styled this way

  14. Kathy September 4, 2013 at 02:22 #

Oh Emma, bless her heart. She really did try, but this is not her outfit. She doesn’t have the charm or edgy quality needed to pull something like this off.

  15. Anj September 4, 2013 at 03:47 #

This is an extremely awkward look. I even feel uncomfortable just looking at it.

  16. Danielle September 4, 2013 at 04:24 #

Emma is gorgeous and I usually love her style, but this is a big no.

  17. Alina September 4, 2013 at 05:44 #

    The top is just ugly.

  18. fjoiej September 4, 2013 at 07:03 #

it’s the resort 2014 version of the balenciaga spring 2013 look kristen stewart wore to the LA premiere of On the Road. Emma doesn’t quite pull this off

  19. Parvati September 4, 2013 at 11:54 #

Um… no. Just when I was saying that I’m tired of every celebrity exposing their midriffs, now comes this. I actually like the bottom half of the look, but the top, not really. I think these “sleeves” are overwhelming her and along with exposed midriff, I think they make the whole look rather awkward.

    • Ariadne September 4, 2013 at 12:13 #

I agree with you. The sleeves are overwhelming her petite frame. Her pose also affects the look. There are some pics where her outfit looks better than this one.

  20. dee September 4, 2013 at 14:39 #

    This is awful.

  21. Irina September 4, 2013 at 15:57 #

A lame and akward top paired with a lame bottom on her petite frame resulted in a super lame but pop culture memorable curiosity/monstrosity. D-

  22. Saumya September 4, 2013 at 17:49 #

Definitely not one of her best moments

  23. Liz September 6, 2013 at 04:55 #

It would be perfect if the pants were so big, but she looks lovely from the waste up.
