Gia Coppola’s Weekend At Venice Film Festival

Gia Coppola's Weekend At Venice Film Festival

Gia Coppola took to the red carpet several times over the weekend attending events during the 2013 Venice Film Festival.

Art of Elysium’s ‘Child of God’ and ‘Palo Alto’ event: On Saturday the writer-director kick-started proceedings wearing an off-the-shoulder Christopher Kane Fall 2013 black velvet loop-tape dress featuring a nude lining we didn’t see on the runway. Black sandals and a black clutch with gold hardware completed her look.

‘Palo Alto’ photocall: The following day Gia opted for a head-to-toe Proenza Schouler look, selecting a black-and-white zigzag tweed dress with a small keyhole detail paired with black python pumps, both from the Resort 2014 collection. While the first look was sexy, this one has a youthful vibe. It’s interesting how she’s opted for two edgy designers, yet selected easy-to-wear pieces.

‘Palo Alto’ premiere: For the premiere on Sunday evening Gia couldn’t have looked more like her aunt Sofia, wearing a classic suit by Saint Laurent styled with a white blouse and black bow tie, keeping the makeup fresh and neutral for her borrowed-from-the-boys look.

Vanity Fair 10th Anniversary Celebrations: For her after-dark look, Gia wore a sexy Zac Posen strapless frock with a below-the-knee trumpet hemline and geometric folded detail at the bodice. Still opting for makeup in a neutral colour palette, she once again opted for black accessories, this time wearing black sandals and a satin clutch. You may remember that Naya Rivera wore this same dress back in April.

Of all these looks, the Saint Laurent is my favourite. I feel like this is more her style. The Zac Posen was my second favourite for pure sex appeal – something Zac Posen is a master at.

First look: I don’t think she ‘sells’ the dress very well.

Second look: She reminded me of Alexa Chung – which is never a good thing, IMO.

Third look: Perfect for her and I’m willing to accept it as a look for a premiere at a movie festival because she’s not an actress, she’s a director.

Fourth look: Simple, yet sassy. I like it!

I like every single look for its diversity. There’s a new Coppola in town!

    She’s not Sofia’s sister, she’s her niece.

Um, are the loops on the first dress designed to look broken like that or am I just being silly?

Oh ok I Googled it and it’s basically velcro in macro. Lol FC you should really allow your dear readers to delete or edit comments to preserve their dignity ;D

I know, sometimes I wish I could delete something I’ve ‘said’. But you shouldn’t feel bad for asking a question. We’re all interested in fashion, so it helps us learn. Oh gah, I sound like a teacher. But, you know what I mean.

It’s intentional going by the runway look.

I like all of them and the diversity about them, but my favourites are no. 3 and 4 as well.

I like it all!! But I am surprised to hear that the Saint Laurent is your fave, FC, as I find that you tend to favor more feminine and dressy attire, (as do I). Therefore, I quite love the Zac Posen-it’s not overly femme or frilly for her style. My favorite, though, is the Christopher Kane. I think it suits her perfectly, and the details are very cool and a little bit quirky, just like Gia.

She’s not the sister of Sofia, she’s the daughter of Sofia’s brother Gian Carlo, who died in the ’80s. In fact her real name is Gian Carla. Zac Posen’s is my favorite look, by the way.

Zac Posen is easily my fave, it gives her such a flattering sexy shape. Her hair is too lackluster, wish she had done more with it.

The Zac Posen look is my favourite, even though I don’t like her hair. But from the neck down, it’s an amazing look.
