Sarah Hyland In Marchesa – 2013 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Sarah Hyland In Marchesa - 2013 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

‘Vampire Academy’ starlet Sarah Hyland took a dramatic turn on the red carpet, joining co-star Zoey Deutch at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Sarah sent some mixed messages in her Marchesa Spring 2013 red-and-gold tulle high-low gown—I was picking up an extravagant India-inspired flavour, some medieval princess edge and a dash of Wonder Woman.

Strappy black Casadei sandals seemed out of place when they could have so easily been gold to go with that glittery metallic Marchesa clutch.

Renaissance super-girl aside, I found this look to be overwhelming for the young actress. Short of ripping off those heavy layers, she could’ve had so much more lighthearted fun at MTV’s big night.

I hated this dress on the runaway and more on her. It does do nothing for her and it is too formal for this event.

so awful, she is another one of those constant misses.

funny-this is like the other marchesa that Heidi KLum wore and I thought-how odd for Marchesa. So there are head scratching moments. But this dress was probably something she wanted to do that wasn’t safe and a bit edgy. She’s also really young, on the hit show and allowed to go where others can’t-to try different looks.

Not much to say here – everyone else said it so well! Totally unflattering dress.

    This is one ugly dress.

Normally I like Sarah Hyland’s style – she always dresses age appropriately – but this look is just too confused.

I find the dress too contrived and the shoe choice is baffling, yet again. Do they all think black just goes with everything?!

That dress is a big no, not nice at all!! Also not liking the shoes with the dress.

I usually love Marchesa, but I think this dress is ugly and messy, there’s too much going on and she’s definitely not the right person who can pull it off. Bad styling, too.

    Total disaster!

    Ugly dress.

The bust area is quite awkward, the dress looks poorly constructed (especially the gold lining) and the hair and makeup are pageant-y. Not the best look for the VMAs, or any occasion for that matter.

Surprisingly I don’t dislike this. The dress seems to fit her well and she wears it with confidence, I don’t think she’s overwhelmed. It won’t be my fave look but not bad, a gold sandal would’ve been much preferred.

Horrible. She made herself look 40.

I agree with all the points made above. I knew as son as I saw ‘in Marchesa’, it wasn’t going to be good. That would have been the last designer I would’ve picked for this event-and I love Marchesa. Just so inappropriate. And even if it were a different event, this still wouldn’t be my favorite look. Sorry Sarah.
