Fan Bingbing In Xiao Li – ‘One Night Surprise’ Shanghai Photocall

Fan Bingbing In Xiao Li - 'One Night Surprise' Shanghai Photocall

Fan Bingbing continued to promote her latest movie, ‘One Night Surprise’, with a photocall at the Shanghai World Financial Center yesterday in Shanghai, China.

If you are in a country currently experiencing a heat wave you may want to look away now, as the actress wore a heavy knitted ensemble by talented up-and-coming designer Xiao Li, which was presented as part of his Royal College of Art graduate 2013 collection.

The look consisted of a pale-yellow chunky-knit sweater with an exaggerated silhouette, puffed-up sleeves and a tonal faceted-resin-embellished neckline, which she styled with a colour-block pale-blue-and-coral skirt.

While I am glad she shone the spotlight on this young designer in 40-degree weather, once again she fails on the shoe choice.

This is such an avant-garde, fashion-forward look, so the yellow stripper heels sadly take the edge out of the look – and what is up with Bingbing and this green nail polish lately?

I could picture Lady Gaga loving this. Come winter, paired with skinny jeans and some non stripper boots I could adore the sweater.

I live in Shanghai and with weather being between 35 and 39 Celsius, from night to day, it honestly doesn’t matter what you wear, skimpiest shorts or fur coat. You will sweat anyway:) interesting look, stripper shoes, argh

Different season and different shoes and I would have loved it.

Epic fail is what this is!
she needs to fire her entire style team pronto!!No one in their right mind would wear a knitted sweater in a 100° F day.
    Poor bingbing..she must be suffering.
I’m so sad that Pace Wu didn’t attend any of these events considering she is also a supporting actress in this movie.

I agree with everything you said, FC. I only wish the skirt was more fitted since the sweater is so voluminous. And I would’ve preferred the yellow skirt too. As far as shoes, these are terrible, but I can’t quite decide what would look better. All in all, I think this is a very cool, albeit different look.

Poodle inspired fashion. Good for a laugh.

Not my favorite look of her. Totally season inappropriate.

This whole outfit is a fail. Looks silly.

I just read that Shanghai has experienced days of 100° F or higher during a record-setting heatwave going on right now. The colors are nice and cool but the texture of that top is season inappropriate to say the least. I guess I’m just not fashion forward; this avant garde look does not appeal to me.

What do “avantgarde” and “fashion forward” even mean? Are these euphemisms for “shapeless” and “we’ll all be wearing the watered-down version of this next summer”? Really?

Chunky, exaggerated, puffed-up…too much, looks like a sweater from a grandma’s closet rather than a cool fashion-forward piece, the mumsy skirt, center-parted hair and tacky heels aren’t helping.

      Horrible look.
