Cate Blanchett In Vionnet – Out In New York City

Cate Blanchett In Vionnet - Out In New York City

On Tuesday afternoon, Cate Blanchett was spotted leaving her hotel in New York City en route to a meeting.

Looking as sophisticated and poised as ever, the Australian actress wore a Vionnet Resort 2014 navy-blue silk dress featuring a red ruffle detail cascading from the shoulder.

The effortless look was styled with a two-toned red-and-white belt with eye-catching silver metallic Roger Vivier Virgule ‘Comma’ pumps which added a lightness to her dark-coloured chic look.

One of my least favorite Cate looks this week. I especially don’t like the shoes. That style heel makes me think that (at least in my case) the heel had buckled under weight.

I really love the dress on her, even if it might be shortened just a little. The shoes do not look good on her feet and do nothing for the dress.
Overall I’d still give this a thumbs up.

not feeling that shoe… don’t find that flattering.

      the vivier one that is.

Omg, if only she had worn the lookbook shoes!!! Love them.

I am not really crazy about this dress on her. The length isn’t working for her and she needs a different shoe.

Vionnet just isn’t doing it for me. Every outfit of theirs I’ve seen just doesn’t work. Not even on the great Cate.

Agreed. The look feels somehow off and does nothing for the actress.

The hem length is awkward on Cate and shortens her frame. The shoes also don’t feel quite right. A graphic sandal would’ve been much preferred.

+1. Totally disliking her shoe game. Terrible length, stumpifies her legs. Looks frumpy to me.

Elegant but I prefer the lookbook shoes.

      +1. Those shoes are to-die-for.

+2. Her shoes, while cool, are just nowhere near as striking as those in the lookbook. I wonder if designers necessarily produce the shoes they show with their designs, or if they’re just for the lookbook. Do you know, FC?

      • Catherine Kallon July 26, 2013 at 16:59 #

        I believe they are produced.

Well, then I guess celebs really don’t have an excuse when they pair inferior shoes with a design that was originally shown with great ones. Refer to above….

FC, you nailed it with the word “effortless”. She is wearing this dress with such ease and elegance. Love that the belt isn’t as cinched as it is on the model too. The length could have been slightly shorter for my liking, but she still looks unmistakably gorgeous.

On a side note, the reviews for Blue Jasmine have been the best of Cate’s entire career. Which hopefully means that the Golden Globes, SAGs, Critics Choice and Academy Awards’ red carpet beckon later this year and early next year. Given the looks that she has served up over the past couple of days, I’m assuming I’m not the only one with my fingers crossed!

I hope so. I imagine that would be an epic award season run
