Solange Knowles In Prada – ‘Blue Jasmine’ New York Premiere

Solange Knowles In Prada - 'Blue Jasmine' New York Premiere

Solange Knowles attended the ‘Blue Jasmine’ New York premiere held at MOMA yesterday evening in New York City alongside Cate Blanchett.

I was completely crestfallen when I saw her in this head-to-toe Prada Spring 2013 look as there isn’t much I like about it.

Her mint-green top and skirt with floral appliqués are considerably more wearable than the complicated layered look which took to the runway, yet even Solange can’t sell me this muted version.

I wasn’t a fan of this collection and few pieces off the runway have piqued my interest.

Even with the Prada accessories, including a glittery bag and pink bow-accented sandals, I find myself being more excited about the return of her ‘fro.

I promise, this looks much better in different pics.

      (NOT the Getty Images, though.)

A boxy, shapeless, amateurish looking horror. The appliquéd flowers give it an air of children’s art smock.

I can’t imagine anyone wearing this “dress”. Huge dislike!

Same here FC.. So so glad to see her fro back!!
Agree with all about the clothes.. It’s ugly! She can do much much better!

This is her worst look to date. There’s nothing I like about it.

I must be the only one that likes this! What a well-dressed premiere, in my eyes.

I’m with you. Not every look has to be sparkly, princess-y, or conventionally pretty.

I agree, to an extent. I think this would look much better were it not so terribly creased. I like the shoes too, but the bag brings it down. I’m glad to see the ‘fro back too.

    That is straight up fug.

She looks cute, but not up to her usual standard–and cute is not what one would expect to say about Solange. So glad she scaled down the skirt.

I don’t like anything about this look.

  11. Titi July 23, 2013 at 15:46 #

I don’t like the look at all. She should have wear something batter than this.

The dress is bad, but so is her styling.

  13. Christine July 23, 2013 at 15:43 #

Not a great collection to begin with.

Solange is much better than this.

    Awful !
The dress is such a mess and it makes her look much wider than she is. The shoes and the bag are ugly.
    One of her worst look.

Am I the only one who thinks Prada clothes (and Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Stella McCartney clothes) are regularly ugly?? But I guess if it’s a big designer name celebs will flock to the clothes anyhow. This dress looks like a poorly done child’s craft project. I don’t get how it can even be considered something professionally made.

OMG I am happy to know that I am not in the minority 😀 Ugly collections, unoriginal especially Channel under Legerfield’s horrible supervision!

    • cartouche July 23, 2013 at 17:38 #

i agree! prada is especially fussy and 98% of the time looks awful. i really don’t get the hype

    • dee July 23, 2013 at 18:41 #

No, you are not alone. I think most of the clothes by these designers are ugly too.

      • Magdalena July 23, 2013 at 19:12 #

I somehow agree about McCartney and Vuitton. Chanel under Lagerfeld has been off for a while, but it still has some good moments, same thing with Dior (I think Raf is still trying to find his way). However I disagree about Prada, because the brand has great rtw pieces and accessories. It’s not a red carpet brand, and not everyone can pull it off, and that’s the problem when celebs wear their clothes on the rc.
Also, I have to say I kinda like this look. Reminds me somewhat of Shala Monroque’s style.
