2013 ESPY Awards Menswear Round Up

2013 ESPY Awards Men

Not willing to be beat by the gathering of glam girls at the 2013 ESPY Awards, some of the boys also brought their fashion A-game to the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California on Wednesday.

LeBron James: Scoring three trophies, including one for Best Male Athlete, the Miami Heat basketball pro outfitted his tall frame in a Waraire Boswell burgundy custom suit with a wide black shawl lapel that was polished off with a big black bow tie. One thing’s certain, LeBron brought some red-hot heat with this slightly OTT outing. Slam dunk or fashion foul?

Jason Sudeikis: The comedian played to the summer season with his Calvin Klein grey chintz wool one-button notch lapel suit and dress shoes from the Spring 2013 collection, worn with a casually unbuttoned white shirt. Too bad it photographed as a bit too lacklustre for my liking.

Dwayne Wade: Dressed to the nines, the Miami Heat player rivaled teammate LeBron James with his own flashy ensemble. He sauntered out a Lanvin black peak label one-button tuxedo and matching pants, paired with a white dress shirt with black glass buttons, a black bow tie, silk scarf and pearl lapel pin. Oh, and the sneakers came out to play, too, as he went for bold red kicks.

Jon Hamm: As host of this year’s 21st annual ESPYS, the ‘Mad Men’ actor achieved his handsome standard with a straightforward black suit and tie—even though the sleeves and the pants were a bit long.

Ben Affleck: Wearing a similarly traditional, Dolce & Gabbana black tonal plaid suit and narrow tie, Ben may have had the edge on Jon with his dapper stage entrance.

Michael Phelps: Exchanging his Speedo for a suave suit, the Olympic pool stud picked up the Best Record-Breaking Performance award. His wider tie was a smart choice for his broad swimmer’s shoulders.
