Maria Sharapova In J. Mendel – 2013 ESPY Awards

Maria Sharapova In J Mendel - 2013 ESPY Awards

With a few too many dark colours at this event, I was thankful for Maria Sharapova’s fresh look at the 2013 ESPY Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California yesterday evening, where she was up for Tennis Player of the Year.

The blonde star wore a J. Mendel Resort 2014 frock with a 50s retro feel, with metallic-silver accents within the pastel-green hues giving the look a modern feel.

The black detailing at the hem bothered me at first, but now I like how it adds an unexpected edge to the look, preventing it from feeling too twee.

Possibly with the black hem in mind, she opted for black Casadei pumps when silver sandals would’ve been my personal preference.

Beach waves, pink lips, and Irene Neuwirth jewelry completed her look.

Absolutely love this look, everything about it. The dress is so beautiful and summery and she looks amazing. I think she is the best dressed of this event.

It’s a beautiful dress and she wears it well but something always seems off with Maria and her style. She’s tall and beautiful but she always seems so awkward on the red carpet. Overall I like this though…I just don’t love it

I agree, methinks she comes with a Russian chill, never seen her look truly relaxed and it comes across whatever she’s wearing

Nice dress but no to the plain shoes.

I don’t like the black hem, and I like the black pumps even less.

If only the shoes were sandals, strappy sandals! But I love the rest and the hem especially. The sheerness keeps it airy and light, but not too… for the lack of a better word, I’ll borrow yours, FC: twee.

Oh come on, Maria, this is too sweet/garden party for her, I wanna see her rock a cool modern and sexy look.

…and that redundant black sheer hem is pretty bad. This is not a particularly good design or choice for her.

Without the black top, the black hem doesn’t seem to belong. I could give it a pass though, if she’d worn anything other than black (or white) shoes.

This is def the best I have seen her, and best of event. I like everything about it, except maybe the shoes, I’ll admit. But, I really love the shiny, futuristic, patchwork quality of the fabric, and the style is extremely flattering. I even love the sheer black hem, it balances the dress perfectly. I also love her hair and makeup-so fresh-so pretty. And although I’m not a fan of the shoes, I do like the clutch. Bravo, Maria!

No from head to toe. Ugly dress and the styling doesn t help it.
