Kate Hudson attended the Novak Djokovic Foundation London gala dinner at The Roundhouse in London yesterday evening.
The Californian girl with a sunny disposition opted for moody colours on this occasion, wearing an Elie Saab Spring 2013 chocolate-brown chiffon embellished dress with a high-low hemline.
Not content with the sparkle on her frock, she added Christian Louboutin spiked accessories, including the ‘Geo’ pumps and ‘Mina’ clutch.
Smoky eyes, a dark-fuchsia lip colour and a simple bun completed her look.
Someone else could’ve made me love this look, but it doesn’t work for me on Kate. It’s not summery or bubbly enough for her.

I agree that someone else could have pulled this look off better…the pink lip is a great match for the grey dress though
This is a bad look. I don’t like the high-low hemline, especially with that train and I also dislike the colour. The hair also looks bad.
Bad dress, super ill fitting and those roots are horrendous
This look is quite stellar. Kudos to her for going against tupe and trying something. You look stunning Kate.
diane kruger.
This dress might be stunning on the right person but it doesn’t work on Kate. Both the color and the cut are unflattering to her.
Sandals and cleaner-looking hair would have helped.
It’s not awful. It’s okay — just nowhere near her usual standard.
I know, with Naomi’s penchant for Alia, it’s quite the pain when celebrities wholly commit themselves to just one brand but Kate should have stuck with Stella on this occasion.
Sinead
I like everything but the shoes. She should have worn sandals.
It’s rather a dull color (not very chocolatey) and though the details are intricate the shape is so sac-like. It doesn’t do anything for her or me.
+100%
A rare miss for Kate, not a flattering silhouette nor is it an inspiring color.
Agreed and Agreed
Looks like a maternity dress.
LOL. My first thought. This is not a good dress to begin with.
My immediate thought too – a maternity dress, shapeless, plus in that uninspiring colour…depressing and underwhelming.
I have been trying to work out why this dress does not work for me, and I think it is because a billowy dress has been paired with the billowy train. The dress needs to be more body skimming for the train to work. This is a difficult dress to pull off, and unfortunately she hasn’t managed to do so.
Holy roots!! I couldn’t even focus on the rest, I got so stuck on her mile-long outgrowth. Yikes!
Okay, I managed to focus elsewhere, and now I’m horrified by her makeup! Uggghh Kate?!?! Eyes or lips Kate, eyes or lips. Choose one or the other–not both! I think some far less fashionable intruder entered Kate’s body for the evening. I can only hope they have left.
I do love it on her. Something else for a change. I would have loved it even more is she had colourfull shoes and bag. As a pop of summer.
love the look. FIERCE
It’s a big no for me.
Me too.
The hair is the biggest offender
It’s not very summery, I agree, but I still think that she looked great. I love the dress.
+1 BDOTW for me
Me too
Agreed. She looks great!
I agree also, love this different approach. She looks beautiful – especially love the lip colour!
I don’t really like the dress especially the high-low hemline. Her make up is great though.
