Thandie Newton In Erdem – Jimmy Choo & Esquire Party

Thandie Newton In Erdem - Jimmy Choo & Esquire Party

Thandie Newton was back out on Sunday evening, helping Jimmy Choo and Esquire celebrate the London Collections: Men opening party, which was held at LouLou’s in London on Sunday evening.

The actress once again wore a London-based designer, selecting a look from Erdem’s Spring 2013 collection.

Her pretty halter frock, with pink-and-citrus floral embroidery and a satin bodice, was styled with a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and hot-pink Jimmy Choo open-toe booties.

While I understand that Thandie might have wanted to dial down the overt girliness of the Erdem frock with the booties, they don’t work for me.

I wish she had selected one of the brand’s sandals.

Not liking this look with them shoes.

I love the color of the shoe, but the bootie isn’t working with this dress. I wish it had been a strappy sandal instead.

    Gorgeous dress.

Dakota Fanning called. She wants her dress back.

The shoes don’t work at all. They are hideous. The dress is pretty, but it’s a tad too long on her.

A very rare miss for Thandie. Styled differently and a bit shorter, the dress might have worked on her; but the hair, make-up, clutch, and especially the shoes aren’t working for me at all.
Perhaps with her hair down, a touch more color on her lip, and strappy sandals, it would have worked.
I think you have to go girly with this dress or leave it on the hanger.

      +1, especially the final comment!

+1 for the conclusion. I love the dress but the whole look is terrible.

I think this is way too twee for Thandie.

Wish the dress was a few inches shorter like the length on the model. I like the shoes but not with this dress.

Prime example of when a great dress is given horrifying styling.

  9. Anne June 17, 2013 at 18:22 #

This is honestly on my worst dressed of the year list. It’s all a mess- hair, length, fit, SHOES (horror).

I don’t mind the colour of the shoes, but they should have been simple pumps or sandals. Shorten the dress a little, maybe lose the clutch, it’s all a bit much, then this could have been nice. Plus, what’s going on with her hair? At the race course I gave it the benefit of the doubt and blamed it on the wind, but this is really bad.

I much prefer the lenght of the dress on the model.

    Why those shoes?

What started out as a pretty dress with some unexpected colors on the runway turned into a child’s costume on Thandie. What was she thinking? In what world is pairing a midi-length floral dress with fuschia ankle booties a good idea?

ahaha I feel you! Who choose those disgusting shoes! The more I look at this the more I think WDOTY.

    So. Sad.

What a beautiful dress. Let’s hope it gets another outing which does it justice.

Such an amazing dress and such an awful styling! She just ruined it…

The dress, when styled with the messy hair and loud shoes (ugh!) really loses its appeal. It wasn’t wonderful to begin with imo, as the colors are jarring and the bodice oddly constructed, but it could have had a chance with toned-down styling.
