Solange Knowles In Mary Katrantzou – ‘Better Days’ Art Basel Performance

Solange Knowles In Mary Katrantzou - 'Better Days' Art Basel Performance

Solange Knowles continued her mini tour of Europe by performing during ‘Better Days’, an art bar installation by Mickalene Thomas presented by Absolut Art Bureau at Art Basel in Basel, Switzerland on Wednesday.

The singer embraced her love for stand-out prints, wearing a Mary Katrantzou Spring 2013 high-neck dress with an a-line silhouette and large pleats on the skirt featuring the designer’s signature stamp print for that season.

Not putting all her creative intellect into just her dress, she also delights with a pair of black-and-white Sophia Webster sandals.

I lost my words… Awful look!!

I like the top part of this dress, but not the skirt, which is also a tad too long on her. The hairstyle is bad. The only thing which I really love are the shoes.

I love the shoes and the dress could have been great but the cut is awful ! Not flaterring at all on Solange.

ITA. Solange can easily carry a complicated print but something is dreadfully wrong here with the silhouette and drape. J’adore those heels.

ia, it’s not even flattering on the model.

      +3 It feels off.

This does nothing to change my mind about my dislike of this designer. The prints are loud and clashing, and the thickness of the fabric (which I have felt) does not drape well. That makes the use of pleats in the skirt in this design rather puzzling. The shoes are amazing but with all of the business of the print, too much.

      I agree with you.

        I agree with you completely

I love prints but this is too much bulk and too much fabric. Almost shapeless. The cut around the waist is terribly unflattering.

Ms Knowles has a great figure with legs that go on forever…this woman is a rectangle with stumps..please notify Ms Knowles that there is an imposter!

Well, I like her shoes. That’s the only nice thing I have to say about this look.

      +1 too much!

Oh look, Solange Knowles in another headache inducing print. Shocker.

She’s been losing me since the mind-blowing Stephane Rolland.

Wow, she loves prints but this a bit too much! In love with her shoes though.

This does not look like a dress so much as a tribal costume! Its one thing to get ethnic inspiration but this is just ugly.

I would love the dress without the waist-widening blue panel at the midsection and the stamped panel at the front of the skirt. MK does nice prints but, when she puts a dress together, often goes overboard and makes an overall hash of things.

The hair would be very cool with a simple dress. With this one it looks much too costumey. (Granted she is performing, but still….)

I was very forthcoming with my disdain for her last look. But I really like this. Mary K. is a great choice for her and her hair is the bomb diggity! :-)
