January Jones In Mary Katrantzou – Women In Film’s 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards

January Jones In Mary Katrantzou - Women In Film's 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards

January Jones attended Women In Film’s 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday evening.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress, who looks like she just stepped off the set with that aging hairdo, wore a Mary Katrantzou ‘Fauwi Babelonia’ jacquard cap-sleeved dress with a pretty landscape print from the Fall 2013 collection – a commercial look.

Adding yet more colour to this mesmerizing print, January wore sparkling emerald earrings which highlighted her shimmering green eye makeup.

Does January rock your world with this look?

I don’t mind the hair, actually. The shoes, I do mind–but all I’m looking at is the dress, which is an artistic masterpiece. I really, really love it. I covet it. It’s beautiful.

I love the dress on the model, hate it on January. Somehow she makes it look mumsy and awkward. The length is wrong, the bodice is not fitted enough (see model), the shoes are uninspired. With such a busy dress, the emerald earrings are entirely unneccesary; they should be wore with a ball gown. And don’t even get me started on her hair…

You’ve perfectly articulated everything I was thinking about this!!

Love this dress. The colours are gorgeous. This is something I could see myself wearing (probably a tad shorter though)

  4. Nat39 June 13, 2013 at 20:01 #

The dress is so beautiful, love it. Hair, pumps, length aren’t working here for me however.

I never really like her styling anyway, but here she has somehow transformed herself to look 40 years older.

  6. Beta June 13, 2013 at 16:16 #

Im lusting for this dress, this is easily my favourite look from January

  7. Jai June 13, 2013 at 14:52 #

I don’t like one thing about this look, which saddens me. I always look forward to an interesting fashion moment from January.

  8. Moxie June 13, 2013 at 14:17 #

Love it from the ankles up.

  9. AnderBoBo June 13, 2013 at 13:51 #

Much prefer the dress on the model. The fit appears to be off and unflattering on January, and her styling is aging.

  10. Yeliz June 13, 2013 at 13:37 #

Love the dress on the model, but I don’t like January’s look at all. Boring shoes and aging hairstyle.

it looks like she’s wearing kitten heels, so I think that is what’s causing problems with the length of the dress. Aside from that, I think she looks lovely.

  12. Ericka June 13, 2013 at 13:24 #

The dress is utterly gorgeous but I am not crazy about the styling.

  13. Srividya June 13, 2013 at 13:18 #

The dress is gorgeous and January Jones is gorgeous… but with that hairstyle and that length of the dress, I saw it and thought, ‘What just happened here?’

I don’t know how anyone can pay attention to the pretty-but too long- dress with the awfulness of the hair getting in the way. This mumsy set is not her style at all, I know she likes to experiment but she can’t have liked this princess Diana hair look surely? Baffling.

    • KatieKate June 14, 2013 at 01:49 #

Hey, watch the Princess Di references–those can be fighting words. 🙂

The dress is very beautiful and it looks great on her except for one thing: the length!
When you pay (or maybe they don’t…most of the time?)an arm and a leg for this exclusive peace of art…why ohh whyyyy can’they have the length of dress adjusted to their own height?! These dresses must be the right length or the style is ruined!

I love Mary Katrantzou, wouldn’t this be a great dress for a summer christening/wedding!

  17. Christine June 13, 2013 at 12:48 #

I like the dress but bad styling.

I adore this dress ! Makeup and earings are perfect, the look has a retro feel, I don’t find it aging.

    • Charlotte June 13, 2013 at 12:46 #

      I agree.

    • Catherine Kallon June 13, 2013 at 12:57 #

it was only the hair I was saying was aging

      • KatieKate June 14, 2013 at 01:48 #

I agree with FC, Love everything about this look–up close, far away I found both dress and shoes uninspiring–except for the hair.

OMG!! I usually loathe this designer-I mean who wants to wear bank notes and stuff. But I really think this is a pretty dress. The angle of the picture does make it look a little long on her and a bit big but I love it on the model. However I do think most men would hate it.

    • Denise June 13, 2013 at 12:50 #

Men who appreciate classy women will find this look worthy of their attention.

      • Lee Ann June 13, 2013 at 13:44 #

I wasn’t referring to the Herve Lergermen who wouldn’t know class if it it bit them on the nose. Trust me men don’t like patterns. their little brains can’t deal with the noise.

        • Louise June 13, 2013 at 14:40 #

          I totally agree!

    • Alicat June 13, 2013 at 12:57 #

I have to agree about the designer. I viewed a rack of her designs “in the flesh” which were covered in huge postage stamps. Just not to my taste at all. This dress is not as loud but I still don’t like it. It is too long and the waist sits too low on her. It does look better on the model.

    • MaddyEliza June 13, 2013 at 13:01 #

+1 Normally I do not like Mary Katrantzou at all either, but I love this dress! It’s so pretty. Unfortunately, the styling lets her down.

    • Beta June 13, 2013 at 16:19 #

most men I know don’t even notice ‘details’ like patterns. I work in and engineering environment so I kinda see this every day. I crack up when my girlfriends are like “im going on a date, do these earring match?” Im like, “they’re not even going to notice!”

    • Derro June 13, 2013 at 16:30 #

Completely disagree about the designer. Amongst all the Elie Saabs and ODLR and Diors where the same boring silhouettes and fabrics are recycled over and over again, I find Mary Katrantzou’s work to be a breath of fresh air. Innovative, creative, and bold in the best way.

      • KatieKate June 14, 2013 at 01:46 #

        Totally agree.
