Dita Von Teese In Maria Lucia Hohan – 2013 Fragrance Foundation Awards

Dita Von Teese In Maria Lucia Hohan - 2013 Fragrance Foundation Awards

Dita Von Teese attended the 2013 Fragrance Foundation Awards at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The burlesque star opted not to wear a black frock; instead she donned a champagne-coloured Maria Lucia Hohan ‘Madison’ silk-tulle gown featuring a draped corset, gold trimmings and a signature illusion panel at the back.

Gold accessories and Dita’s signature bold red lips and retro ‘do completed her sexy look.

Do you find this refreshing or is Dita washed out?

I don’t like the top of the dress, it’s not really flaterring. Though, the color of the dress is lovely on Dita’s skin.

+1. Agree, don’t like the top but she looks great.

I just realized that the reasons that I find her so boring is that she has the SAME makeup look for every occasion. But there has to be a distinction between a “signature” look and the SAME LOOK.

She IS a beautiful woman, no doubt about that. But I think you can still play homage to an era with a little variety.

I totally agree. I usually am bored by her style, but I actually like this a lot more than usual.

      • ok June 13, 2013 at 21:17 #

I agree about her makeup generally, but I think the lighting wasn’t super flattering for her, because this is the first time I’ve thought “Mutton dressed as lamb.”

        Also, the dress is hideous.

        • KatieKate June 14, 2013 at 01:33 #

What is the deal with the mutton dressed as lamb remark that you repeatedly make? It’s so inappropriate.

          • Kathy June 14, 2013 at 03:15 #

How is it inappropriate? She’s just trying to say that Dita is dressing much younger than her actual age (personally, I disagree but to each their own). It’s certainly not the most offenseive thing ever.

I see your point about the make up.

I like the dress. A refreshing change.

The fit of the top part of the gown is terrible. Love the skirt and her styling, but the ill fitted corset is bothering me a lot.

  5. Moxie June 13, 2013 at 14:16 #

Not a fan of the bodice. It doesn’t fit properly. I know she has a signature look, but I wish she’d change her makeup once in a while.

  6. Kathy June 13, 2013 at 15:54 #

The “bodice” (if you can even call it one) is just awful. It sits on her torso at a weird angle and makes her appear more chesty than she actually is. In fact, the whole dress is really very sloppy. The only thing I like here is the champagne color.

    Dita’s a goddess.
I love all of her looks, this one being no exception

    • Ariel June 14, 2013 at 11:26 #

      + 1000

Yes, the dress looks weird, but I love it for not being too literal 40s/50s (or whatever era that inspires her look). And one more thing, how did the bust part manage to stay up with very little support and make her breasts look firm at the same time? I’m quite amazed by the construction of it.

seems like I’m the only one liking the dress including the top part of it, she looks divine…

  10. robbie June 13, 2013 at 18:22 #

i will be one of the few then that love this look, but then again this is dita and she can (rarely) do no wrong in my eyes.

    • Pati June 13, 2013 at 21:11 #

Totally agree. She’s always divine! I so admire her posture – absolutely impeccable!

  11. Nat39 June 13, 2013 at 19:51 #

The bodice is so bad, I find it impossible to look past it.

  12. MaddyEliza June 13, 2013 at 23:25 #

I’ve never liked Dita’s style, and this is no exception. She always looks the same. Also, her dress is boring and ill-fitting.

  13. KatieKate June 14, 2013 at 01:36 #

She looks amazing. I don’t feel like this dress is translating well for people, but I love it, it’s one of those things that only she could pull off. And I never tire of her “signature look”; it’s what makes Dita, Dita.

  14. EmmaWoodhouse June 15, 2013 at 04:25 #

    Getting tired of her makeup…
The dress was a poor choice. MLH’s designs occasionally work (though the illusion panels always detract), but this is a total mess.
