Milla Jovovich In Valentino Couture – amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Milla Jovovich In Valentino Couture - amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Ah, so this is what redemption looks like.

Milla Jovovich has been well below par during Cannes Film Festival, however, she made up for it on Thursday evening on the red carpet for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France.

The model/actress selected a stunning Valentino Spring 2013 Couture gown.

Her delicate blush gown with shimmering floral beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline and tiered ruffled skirt is by far her best look.

Sometimes her look can come off quite harsh, but here she is quite the opposite.

A Jimmy Choo ‘Carmen’ clutch, David Yurman jewels including green beryl and diamond drop earrings and a cognac diamond cuff complemented her look perfectly, with an additional sapphire cuff with a rubellite and diamond ring providing a nice pop of colour.

A braided updo and a shimmering pink lip colour completed her look.

Much improved, or is Milla having an off year here at Cannes?

Better than her other looks but I don’t love it that much, all these tiny ruffles aren’t working for me.

I agree about the ruffles but the worst part to me is the hair. It’s just awful.

It’s improved from her last two horrors but I think that she’s not the only having an off year at Cannes I expected so much more from this especially for the amfAR Gala but aside from a few dresses namely from Nicole Kidman and Zhang Yuqi the festival is an overall disappointment. Part of me blames Cavalli and the other part is just yearning for Diane to come back.

      agree with everything you say

She’s divine, however the larger sleeves as seen on the model would have made this look less mumsy. And this make up worked when paired with her darker dresses but here she could have gained to look fresher. Her make up is looking too heavy and ashy.

I think the gown is beautiful but her messy hair isn’t working for me.

Better than the model on the runaway!

    Flawless

I love it, but still just a little bit less than the beaded Chanel she donned on day 1. But just a little bit less…it is stunning, as is she. H2T.

It just feels like she lost her mojo :S

She looks stunning, the dress is beautiful, but I think she could have styled the hair better, they’re a bit too messy for this romantic dress.

+1, the hair ruins the whole look for me.

The gown is beautiful but she just looks like she isn’t having as much fun as other years. Oh, and the hair is hideous.

Dress is interesting and a little overwhelming when it comes to ruffles. Perhaps the designer based the project on the fact that it uses a very sheer fabric. Yet something could be improved on the design itself.

When it comes to wearing this gown, Mila is completely swollen by the ruffles. She looks like when she had a dress rehearsal not being on the red carpet.

The hair done with bangles, the makeup is not convincing and the dress is dominating the look of the model/actress.

The dress itself should be reworked somehow before being worn and Mila should have chosen a different makeover to wear it.

Frankly I liked her previous appearances, dislike those ruffles on the gown and her hair seems to take the same route.

This is a vast improvement on her last few looks, but it is wrong for her. I don’t think she suits a frothy gown. It overwhelms her. She hasn’t looked very happy in any of her photos, or is that her look?? A radiant, smiling face lifts any look.

I don’t think her looks have been all that bad this year, the only one I really disliked was the last one. This one, however, is stunning! The hair and makeup and everything works so well together.

  15. MissCru May 24, 2013 at 14:56 #

I think that she has THE SUPERMODEL PROBLEM. Just because you’re beautiful and have the perfect body, doesn’t mean that you can wear tacky dresses and expect the audience to go “WOOOW”.

  16. Ariel May 24, 2013 at 15:20 #

I don t know what s more awful: the dress or the hair. Too bad, Milla is such a beautiful woman!

OK, this is ALMOST what redemption looks like. For a great look:
    1. Make the sleeves cap sleeves.
    2. Make the plunging neckline a more modest v-neck
    3. Do something better with her hair.
THEN I’d love it. The ruffled skirt is really pretty, but overall this look isn’t working for me quite yet.

I normally hate tiers and ruffles but this gown is working for me. I much prefer the white color she’s wearing to the darker version on the model. This is quite lovely.
