Audrey Tautou In Lanvin – amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Audrey Tautou In Lanvin - amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

We haven’t seen Audrey Tautou, mistress of ceremonies for the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, since the opening ceremony, so I’m delighted to see her once again on the red carpet for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France on Thursday evening.

The French actress had the honour of Alber Elbaz creating this silver frosted lace Lanvin dress with a tiered horse-hair hem especially for this occasion.

A butterfly accented silver crystal belt accented her waist, with a Lanvin stone-and-wood shell box clutch complementing her look.

The only thing I would change here are her nude Lanvin pumps. They feel so ordinary for such an exquisite custom piece.

The pumps are just a NO, and I have to say she looks really awkward in this dress. This isn’t working for me.

I agree with you and I also think that this dress is too twee for her.

Her elfin prettiness and delicate build enables her to wear a tiered dress like this. I love the butterfly accented belt. It is a pity about the shoes. They are so wrong for this dress and heavy looking on her slim legs. A petty, strappy sandal in silver/black perhaps?

      *pretty

Agreed with you FC, does pumps are awful!! These stylists man, can’t they come up with someone other than the typical nude pump?? The dress is gorgeous tho!

I think she’s a little too old for wearing this dress. I would have preferred it long. The shoes are just a NO.

    • Nat39 May 24, 2013 at 00:58 #

The dress is def. better suited to someone younger, agreed.

      • MissCru May 24, 2013 at 01:11 #

And I totally agree with you on the pumps. This dress itself is not working at all.

Too old? It’s not like she’s mutton dressed as lamb! Why should a woman suddenly have to cover up because she’s in her 30s?

      • Nat39 May 24, 2013 at 02:27 #

It’s not about covering up…the cut of the dress (that skirt esp) is way too young, girly and cutesy for her.

+3 I really wanted her and Bonni Wright to switch dresses.

Sure, she’s not 15 anymore, but I think the dress suits her personnality, since she’s very “woman-child”.

    • noo May 24, 2013 at 05:55 #

I would have preferred it long too!

    • dee May 24, 2013 at 15:40 #

      I agree.

She looks too cute. But yes this is a bit on the twee side.

  6. Marybeth May 24, 2013 at 01:28 #

The dress is exquisite but I just can’r get past those chunky, bank-teller shoes.

  7. dunzoo May 24, 2013 at 02:36 #

That dress is beautiful, playful and glam at the same time, but would have looked better sans the straps or with thicker straps IMO. Don’t mind the nude pumps.

Love the dress, love her, hate the shoes and hate all of them together. To me the dress is unflattering on her. It makes her legs look to skinny and very flatchestes even though she is not!

The dress is nice but as you said, the pumps are killing it. I also have to add the clutch and her hair too. Why isn’t she letting her hair grow? But still she can style her hair differently, I know because I’ve got short hair like hers and I style it occasionally depending on the outfit.

Why those shoes? So heavy! It’s Cannes, some sandals, some bling, please!

    • Ariel May 24, 2013 at 14:59 #

      I just dislike the shoes!

  11. EmmaWoodhouse May 24, 2013 at 15:37 #

From the ankles up (darn those shoes!), J’adore! This is the way to rock a short dress at a gala! Love the glitz and glam.

She has the perfect body for the Valentino silhouette (narrow shoulders, long neck, no chest) but this kind of dress is completely wrong for her body shape.

    Love it!

I have to admit that despite how much I want to love Audrey’s looks, I’m not. I don’t feel that her looks have been captivating, interesting or noteworthy. She just isn’t selling it to me, despite her beauty and the beauty of the clothes.
