Carey Mulligan In Nina Ricci – ‘The Great Gatsby’ Sydney Premiere

Carey Mulligan In Nina Ricci - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Sydney Premiere

Following a short trip to promote her new movie ‘The Great Gatsby’ in Cannes last week, Carey Mulligan took to the red carpet at Moore Park in Australia for the Sydney premiere.

Despite the wet conditions, Carey opted for an arm-baring look from the Nina Ricci Fall 2013 collection.

Having stuck to a black-and-white colour palette during Cannes, this look featured a Chantilly lace blush-coloured bustier paired with black cropped pants, rather than the skirt this look was presented with on the runway.

Many of you will be delighted to discover that Carey’s makeup artist travelled with her on this leg of her promo tour. Just that pink lip colour alone brightens up her face, preventing her from looking so washed out and tired.

Giving her Brian Atwood ‘Aida’ peep-toes a break, the British actress wore Saint Laurent t-bar sandals on this occasion, with Tiffany jewels and wavy tresses completing her look.

I don’t think this look is flaterring on Carey. With this bustier, she seems to have no breast ! And the pants are really unflaterring around the hips.
This could have been a great look but not on her.

I like the pic because her smile is so pretty! About the look, well I just don’t found it premiere worthy.

The look isn’t my favorite, but I’m glad to see her doing something different with her hair and makeup. It’s so refreshing!

She looks good! I love that she’s wearing her hair down. It makes her look so much younger. I feel like the look is missing something though.

I like the bustier but not the pants, it’s too simple for a red carpet.

She looks like she got caught in the rain…Uninspired.

I love this look. She is very beautiful, but I’m happy to see her with a bit more makeup. The hair is also very pretty. I think the bustier paired with the pants look amazing. Thumbs up from me.

I totally love the look! She pulled it off nicely. Also love the casual hair and some colors on her face, vs. the pasty one.

I wish she were wearing that runway skirt. The pants reduce the impact.

      I agree.

I think it is really cute.

I prefer the runway skirt and shoes. Still, it s not a look Carey would pull off. It would be perfect for a feminine brunette.

    I don’t get it.

+1, exactly. Her hair and stance say little girl, that bustier says bordello and the pants and shoes say office. Not impressed — at all.

She is just so boring!! With all of these resources at her disposal, why does she keep picking these snooze inducing outfits!?

  16. KatieKate May 23, 2013 at 02:40 #

I think this is beautiful-simple and classic-which is quite obviously her style. I think people need to remember that not everyone has the same aesthetic, and that is a good thing-variety is the spice of life, right?

The same stylist – ryan hastings – who does Rooney Mara started dressing her this press tour which is why all her looks have been black and white and minimal – I love it but also loved it when sam mcmillan was styling her

Neck up, it’s great. But that ugly lingerie-like bustier and the-illfitting pants are not doing anything for me.
