Zhang Yuqi In Roberto Cavalli & Monique Lhuillier – Cannes Film Festival Premieres

Zhang Yuqi In Roberto Cavalli & Monique Lhuillier - Cannes Film Festival Premieres

Zhang Yuqi had another busy night during Cannes Film Festival, giving us two more great looks; both were strapless.

‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ Premiere: Early in the evening, she donned a heavenly Roberto Cavalli white mermaid gown featuring a tiered train and fitted bodice. Sweeping her hair to one side, she completed her look with a gold Sergio Rossi clutch and diamond bracelet.

‘Blind Detective’ Premiere: Later that same evening, the Asian beauty, who is fast becoming my favourite newcomer at this event, wore a Monique Lhuillier gown from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection. The strapless gown has that distinctive print we’ve seen worn by Blake Lively and Naomie Harris. On this occasion she braided her glossy tresses, opting to go hands free and styling her look with dangling gold earrings.

The Cavalli is my favourite here. It’s always a delight to see Cavalli Cannes gowns on the red carpet.

I don’t love the mermaid silhouette, unless it’s done really well–the Cavalli gown is OK but a little been-there done-that bridal. Still really pretty, though. The Lhuillier, on the other hand, is quite stunning with that print. She’s a well-dressed lady.

The Cavalli one is my favorite as well. The fluffly train won me over.

I don’t like the print of the Lhuillier one much, but I still think it’s a great look for her. And I’m obsessed with her braid.

Yuqi is having such a great run. She’s a delightful surprise.

She looks lovely, and she has really nice curves. It’s not dramatic but it really flattering on her body type.

Is the cavalli the same dress Hayden Panettiere wore to the golden globes.?

    • steph May 20, 2013 at 19:58 #

I was thinking the same thing. I think it looked better on Hayden.

Other than the fabric, these looks are virtually identical. Both are lovely, but should have been worn further apart.

WOW! She is really bringing us the big Cannes-worthy gowns — and doing it beautifully!
I like both looks but truly adore the Cavalli.

Both looks are great but the first one is nothing memorable or original. I like the second one better

Absolutely love the Cavalli look. The gown looks so beautiful on her. Such a marvellous look.

The Lhuillier look is stunning as well, but I don’t love it as much as I love the Cavalli look.

I am very biased by saying this but I think Asian actresses have this very natural elegance that other actresses do not possess in my opinion. It never looks fake or forced (except Fan Bing Bing who have a tendency to go overboard). I love her gowns here because she only needs her graciousness to make them work, not overcooked accessories. She looks REGAL 🙂

      * Her red Alexander McQueen…

      • Beta May 20, 2013 at 13:21 #

Yes, the red dress was spectacular. I love both looks here also, she definitely follows the go-big-or-go-home! I really like the colourful Lhuillier dress. The cavalli is beautiful too, but maybe a bit too bridal
