Marion Cotillard In Vivienne Westwood – Chopard Lunch

Marion Cotillard In Vivienne Westwood - Chopard Lunch

Marion Cotillard attended the Chopard Lunch during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in France this afternoon.

You will be as shocked as I am to discover that she’s not wearing Dior.

While she is the perfect ambassador for the French brand, we long to see her in something less predictable.

On this occasion she fulfilled our non-Dior-look-for-a-refreshing-change desires by wearing a Vivienne Westwood corseted gown.

Her fluorescent pink-and-ivory silk-jacquard strapless gown with a high-low hem may be considered a tad too revealing for a luncheon but, as the saying goes, ‘this is Cannes so anything goes’.

Opting for minimal makeup, she completed her look with a Chopard ring and tan sandals.

Are you glad to see her wearing something other than Dior, or would you have preferred something more conservative for a luncheon?

She looked like she tucked part of her dress in her underwear by mistake. No dress should make you look like that. A disaster all around.

+1. Not working at all. Plus, it is a Chopard lunch–would it have hurt to showcase some jewels with that rather meh dress?

  2. Sashaqueenie May 17, 2013 at 14:19 #

    OMG! She looks absolutely uninspiring.
    Downright hideous.

ahaha I agree, this girl has not looked amazing since that yellow dior gown and she has not given me goosebumps since her JPG look at the oscars, its over she will never get her mojo back

This is not a luncheon look. This is not a good look. Very terrible.

memo to Marion: what the hell were you thinking? This looks like a mistake not a design. If she keeps this out Raf will refuse to dress her on principal.

    • SilentVisitor May 17, 2013 at 14:33 #

“If she keeps this out Raf will refuse to dress her on principal”
Really? And you know that for sure?
A very bad look for Marion………

        I’m being sarcastic-geeze-lighten up.

I love Marion but this looks like a tissue paper version from her Met Gala gown.

  6. fromchi-town May 17, 2013 at 14:25 #

Err… I am glad she is not in Dior, but I am not glad that she is wearing this. This woman is incredibly beautiful… but this is a complete no.

  7. Rashmi May 17, 2013 at 14:30 #

Its good she has switched to anything-other-than-Dior. However, this particular dress, I don’t like on her. Also, the makeup (or no makeup) looks too bland on her.

  8. Charlotte May 17, 2013 at 14:31 #

I don’t like the dress, it’s really unflaterring on Marion. Her hair, the shoes, the make up : everything is wrong !

    • admmgz May 17, 2013 at 17:01 #

      +1

I have to say- I really like this look. Its a departure from her usual Dior bland Red Carpet Looks. she is experimental and I LOVE THAT! BRAVO MARION!

  11. katy May 17, 2013 at 14:46 #

    TOTALLY COOL- LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Michael May 17, 2013 at 14:48 #

I think she looks amazing. Vivacious and delicate at the same time. She looks really COOL! The pink POPS!

  13. Moxie May 17, 2013 at 14:52 #

Wow, this is really bad. The dress is not flattering on her and the minimal makeup really isn’t working. Maybe with another dress it would work, but this one is washing her out.

  14. dee May 17, 2013 at 14:57 #

This dress is not working for me and she looks tired.

  15. Joy May 17, 2013 at 15:07 #

I’m really shocked she didn’t wear Dior, especially since it seems everyone else is. Maybe she is saving herself for a fabulous Dior gown. I’m not loving this dress, but I love Marion so much it’s all good.

  16. Noemi May 17, 2013 at 15:41 #

I don’t like it, the dress is weird and the shoes are too simple.

  17. katy May 17, 2013 at 15:51 #

I LOVE IT.super cute and FUN! I love that she is taking a risk on the Red Carpet and has tried something new other than the bland Dior gowns she ALWAYS WEARS! BRAVO MARION!

  18. EmmaWoodhouse May 17, 2013 at 15:52 #

I am always baffled by Marion’s choice of pinkish/neutral eye makeup. She’s so lovely but it makes her look tired.
The hair is good here, and I like the print of the dress–but the lowcut, hanging of her, uneven hemmed style is a mess. Also, it washes her out. So it’s a no from me.

  19. Sally May 17, 2013 at 16:09 #

I am always mystified when something like THIS happens. How does this occur, did she lose a bet?

  20. Rebecca Z May 17, 2013 at 16:20 #

    Ugh.

    • CreoleLady May 17, 2013 at 23:07 #

That’s what I said. Looks like a beach towel to me.

  21. Hannah May 17, 2013 at 16:37 #

God- everyone on here is so boring and conservative!! Finally a bit of fresh air,
I am so tired seeing the same stuff on the red carpet all the time! I think she looks gorgeous! Well done Marion

  22. katrin May 17, 2013 at 16:38 #

Beyond beautiful- a real Cannes fashion moment. Marion the style goddess

  23. Rory May 17, 2013 at 16:44 #

Love this. fresh and easy. perfect for a luncheon.

    • MELISSA May 17, 2013 at 17:22 #

definietly like this! sassy and cute.

  24. Nat May 17, 2013 at 16:50 #

It isn’t Dior but it look like those boring Dior dresses she wear

  25. Kathy May 17, 2013 at 18:26 #

This dress could have passed for a less structured version of one of Raf’s designs. He does love the strapless, high-low hemline combo. The pale color is a bit cutesy but not problematic.

  26. asmozonic May 17, 2013 at 19:21 #

i can’t get past THAT face!

  27. Nat39 May 17, 2013 at 19:41 #

So awfully dull and washed out, she coould’ve at least done a bit more with her makeup.

  28. Alicat May 18, 2013 at 03:46 #

Marion is a superbly talented actress and one of the most beautiful women, in my opinion. But she can be very hit and miss on the red carpet. Here we have a miss. The dress is strange and does not work. Her minimal makeup is not enough and the hair boring. In fact, she looks like she took 5 minutes to get ready. She is still my girl crush, though.

  29. AG May 18, 2013 at 04:52 #

Unfortunately Marion is looking quite disheveled here!

  30. Kathryn Green May 18, 2013 at 09:29 #

Marion looks subtly, serenely, astonishingly beautiful. There must have been a big fall out with Dior. You have to remember she was a muse to John Galliano before Raf. It is not just the dress, everything about her looks liberated, like she is at last free to be how she wants. Her make up, shoes, bag (her assistant is carrying which I love, oh to be a star) dress, cover up she wore in the car looks like she chose them.
I love it, she would look ravishing in a brown paper bag, she would give it her innate style.
As for looking dressed up for lunch. It is a Chopard event at Cannes! So fed up with all dressing down constantly. She is a true star, the others just look dim in her presence.

  31. Jess2 May 18, 2013 at 12:36 #

I love Vivienne Westwood but oh man is this dress bad. I don’t like anything about this look I’m afraid. Marion also looks quite tired, I hope she is getting enough rest.

  32. Amy May 18, 2013 at 14:58 #

good idea but the dress makes the whole thing look sloppy. It’s wrinkled, half tucked, washed out… just a mess.

  33. Manja May 18, 2013 at 20:02 #

She does look cool… A little too cool for my taste. Actually, it borders on sloppy :( I don’t hate the dress but there’s a way to make the I-m-not-trying-too-hard look more polished: make up & hair…
