Vahina Giocante In Elie Saab – ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Vahina Giocante In Elie Saab - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Vahina Giocante stunned on the red carpet this evening for ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also serves as the Opening Ceremony.

Thanks to the French actress, we didn’t have to wait long for our first Elie Saab red carpet gown at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

While it’s not from my wish list, I am delighted that she selected this vibrant electric-blue version of the dolman-sleeved gown with sheer inserts which was presented in navy-blue in the look book.

The navy may have blended into the tuxedo-wearing photographers behind her, so this was a smart choice – plus, it was guaranteed to grab my attention considering this is my favourite colour.

A chic updo, red lips, stunning jewels and an Elie Saab clutch to match her gown completed her look.

She pulls off those sheer inserts amazingly. The gown looks great on her and I love the colour.

    Great colour.

  3. Alina May 15, 2013 at 18:18 #

    WOW! Love this!

  4. Rosanna May 15, 2013 at 18:20 #

    Amanzing, love it!

She looks fabulous. Love the color.

The dress makes her look strangely chesty. I don’t lile the clutch. It looks cheap and is just one shade off from the dress. Better to have a completely different color than one just a tad different.

      *like

    Stunning color.

  8. Nat39 May 15, 2013 at 18:31 #

She looks gorgeous but the sleek sexy modern feel of the look is lost on her, it’s all starting to look too mature with her styling.

    • Kathy May 15, 2013 at 18:46 #

Agreed. In the lookbook the dress feels much more modern, less fussy. Might have something to do with the navy blue color.

      • gabis May 16, 2013 at 20:11 #

I agree. Whilst the electric-blue colour is fabulous, I find the navy-blue version chicer, classier and definitely more modern especially when combined with the golden belt.
She looks nice but I wish she had kept the original version.

Maybe it’s the angle, but I think her bust is too big for this type of dress. The color is stunning though.

    BDOTW worthy!

  11. Marybeth May 15, 2013 at 18:53 #

    I like this very much.
I wonder if I would have liked it even more if she had kept the look-book’s gold belt and used gold accessories. I’m not sure.

  12. fromchi-town May 15, 2013 at 19:08 #

I wish she kept the gold belt, that would have been a great contrast. But she still looks beautiful and the color is magnificent.

  13. justme May 15, 2013 at 19:13 #

The dress makes her look much wider than she really is.
I also don’t like the (kinda) matching clutch.

Am I the only one who sees a similarity to the Gwyneth Paltrow dress that everyone was in a big stir over?????

    • Parvati May 19, 2013 at 01:25 #

You’re not the only one. I also imediately thought of Gwyneth Platrow’s dress. The sleeves and the sheer line on the sides are very similar.

  15. Jessica May 15, 2013 at 19:39 #

Beautiful colour! She looks great. I love this dress!

  16. Moxie May 15, 2013 at 19:44 #

Love the color and the top. I hope that the sheer side pieces on the bottom aren’t venturing into Gwenyth Paltrow tackiness levels.

  17. Rebecca Z May 15, 2013 at 21:03 #

I am not a prude but I don’t like these super naked side panels on the skirt–and I think the dress misses the belt.

  18. Aline May 15, 2013 at 21:28 #

I really don’t like it. This dress is clearly meant for someone flat chested. Plus I don’t like her styling and this color on her.

  19. Florencia May 16, 2013 at 00:59 #

It has some resemblances to the one Taylor Swift wore in the Brit Awards

  20. AG May 16, 2013 at 03:36 #

Really missing the belt. It would’ve given her more shape and pulled the look together nicely.

  21. EmmaWoodhouse May 16, 2013 at 04:12 #

I love the color, but the silhouette, especially sans belt, reads matronly…and then there’s those troublesome sheer inserts on the bodice and the skirt. I’m really not liking the sheer-to-the-hips look lately.

  22. jkrau May 16, 2013 at 04:40 #

Seeing the photo I immediately thought “Oh FC is gonna love this, it’s her and my favorite color!!!”

    • Catherine Kallon May 16, 2013 at 08:58 #

      You were SO right ;)

  23. Dhppy May 16, 2013 at 06:33 #

Elie Saab broke away from his usually glittery glam, pared things down and found a new way to wow. This is lovely!

  24. the ogre May 16, 2013 at 07:15 #

wow! i’m blown away as i was by carey mulligan and nicole kidman! sheer inserts actually look great on her. elie saab can never really go wrong at cannes huh?

  25. ISIK May 16, 2013 at 10:48 #

The dress looks very ordinary without the gold belt and I would have preferred the Navy-blue version. Also the matching color clutch is too much for me :/

    • gabis May 16, 2013 at 20:15 #

      +1

  26. Jess2 May 16, 2013 at 12:20 #

Amazing colour! Love the dress and Vahina styled it perfectly.

  27. gidget bananas May 17, 2013 at 21:25 #

I prefer the navy version; that royal blue always reminds me of the 80s, but not in a good way.
