Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture – ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture - ‘The Great Gatsby’ Premiere & Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Julianne Moore is the third star to take to the red carpet at ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, which also serves as the Opening Ceremony, this evening wearing a Dior Couture look.

Regular readers know that we don’t usually see this many Dior gowns during the whole festival let along the first night.

While I loved both Nicole Kidman and Zhang Ziyi’s Dior looks, this one falls a bit flat.

I wasn’t too crazy about it on the runway, so adding a train to the organza skirt wasn’t going to change that feeling.

Had the bodice been bedazzled, maybe I would remember this look at the end of the night.

Chopard jewels and silver sandals (which I do love) completed her look.

I am not liking this look… at all.

    • Christine May 16, 2013 at 02:23 #

      Terrible dress. Cheap looking.

  2. Charlotte May 15, 2013 at 19:24 #

I don’t like it. The dress is not gerat and the color of the skirt doesn’t work with her hair color.

  3. Erika May 15, 2013 at 19:25 #

The way the skirt is reflecting the camera flashes makes it look as it’s made from some cheap material. Not a good choice, Dior isn’t really very Cannes.

This is a mess. I miss Diane’s class and impeccable style.

I could see one of the Fanning sisters wearing this, but not Julianne. The train is not helping.

Julianne Moore is a beautiful woman, but good lord her past few red carpet looks have not been great.

  7. Ruff May 15, 2013 at 19:28 #

I like the modern feel. Julianne knows how to carry this kind of stuff.

  8. Rashmi May 15, 2013 at 19:29 #

I love it! I think she looks stunning in a very subtle way!

  9. Yeliz May 15, 2013 at 19:29 #

The gown makes her look wider than she normally is. I think she needed a belt to define the waist. I don’t really like the skirt anyway.

    Horrid.

      +1

The gown is horrible imo, the top is blah, the skirt is odd and cheap-looking, very underwhelming.

I prefer the blue version but the purple suits her red hair. There’s a bit of a sameness to Dior looks that I’m tiring of.

I think she looks fine.. But all I can think of is who is the publicist at Dior?? Has he or she gotten any sleep in the past couple of weeks? They must be working overtime getting all these ladies into Dior Couture.

  14. Prudence May 15, 2013 at 19:40 #

oh, god, why am I seeing so many dior looks already?? These days wearing dior is a guarantee to be badly dressed as is shown right here. These dresses are so incredibly complex and literally do not look good on 99% of people. PICK FROM THE ARCHIVES PEOPLE!

Not liking it, this is uninspiring.

  16. naya May 15, 2013 at 19:52 #

apart from the gown which is a bit boring,am i the only one to see that her little toes are out of the shoes?????i mean,my eyes just went there!!hate it!!!!!!

    • Kat May 15, 2013 at 20:06 #

Hated the shoes but wasn’t sure why. Just another reason to hate sandals in general.

    • Noemi May 15, 2013 at 21:00 #

No, you’re not the only one! I can’t stand it, it’s so ugly to see. And I don’t like her with this dress. But at Dior people must be happy, very happy. Moore, Kidman, Mulligan, many Diors on this red carpet.

  17. Ingrid May 15, 2013 at 19:53 #

I actually like this look – love the choice of shoes!

  18. Sandra May 15, 2013 at 19:53 #

I don’t see what she’s wearing. I’m hypnotized from little toes outside the shoes. Creepy.

    • Mari May 16, 2013 at 01:27 #

Her poor toes are falling off her shoes!

  19. sara May 15, 2013 at 23:07 #

I cant even look at the dress or her face, all i see is the TOES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Lee Ann May 16, 2013 at 00:24 #

    Epic fail

  21. EmmaWoodhouse May 16, 2013 at 04:15 #

    Missing Diane Kruger!
Oh, Julianne. We have such hopes. But this is just–a garbage bag married to a solar panel.

  22. the ogre May 16, 2013 at 06:26 #

wow! julianne has never ever disappointed so badly. i’m sorry but this is a bit of a shock. till now i have only really been mesmerized by carey mulligan and the green ulyana sergeenko wonder!

  23. Alina May 16, 2013 at 06:32 #

    I only like her hair.

  24. Gonzalomrin May 16, 2013 at 07:44 #

  26. britta May 16, 2013 at 15:45 #

    love.love.love

this is by far the best dior look i’ve seen in a while.

  27. Jacu May 16, 2013 at 18:33 #

The straggly baby toe situation is appallingly bad. She is deserving of so much better.
    HATE this look. Period.
