Jennifer Morrison In Donna Karan Atelier – 2013 Met Gala

Jennifer Morrison In Donna Karan Atelier - 2013 Met Gala

‘Once Upon a Time’ actress Jennifer Morrison ventured to the land of punk at the Met Gala tonight at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Her Donna Karan Atelier gown was a fierce statement in sheer black lace that was just shredded enough to look messy and modish at the same time.

The skin-coloured underlining added a sultry nude effect, while the thigh-high ripped slit through the dress packed on even more rebellious flavour.

This dark fairytale was completed with a black Edie Parker clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti platform pumps, and custom jewels by Jherwitt.

Of course, what’s a punk theme without a mohawk? Jennifer delivered our first sprayed and gelled faux-hawk of the evening, then finished her look with a poison-apple-red lip.

    Try too hard.

+1 Yep, she is trying really hard on this one. The hair and the shoes are SO wrong!

The hair is not working but I like that she went for something kind of crazy. I would have liked the dress sans slit, but I definitely think she could have gone for better shoes.
At least she went for the theme!

    This looks so dated.

Blech. Tacky, tacky, tacky. It’s funny how she tried to wear high fashion and channel punk at the same time, yet succeeded in neither. The dress has too many creases, the shoes are awful and so heavy, and the hair, while the only thing inspired about this look, feels out-of-place.

I disagree Rebecca. The theme for this year is very tough to pull off and I think that, with Rooney Mara and Anna Wintour givins us predictable and dare I say boring, Jennifer looks great. I do like the mohawk more from the side view and I do love the dress. Very Donna Karan with the hint of punk.

I don’t even know what her dress looks like because those shoes……

Love the hair, love the dress, but not together! I wish she had gone all the way with a truly editorial punk look… Also I hate these shoes!

  8. Ella May 7, 2013 at 01:08 #

    I love it!

Looks like she tried to find a balance between something sexy that would work for her and the bold theme of the event and ended up with a mess, this is not working for her at all, it’s a miss for her.

No, no, no to that hair. A braided faux-hawk is not a punk statement, it’s just a bad idea lol.

Back to the dress: whatever edginess it might have had, it disappeared with the dull styling. Those heavy platforms are meant to give height, not to be seen.

    Oh honey, no! Fug.

  12. dunzoo May 7, 2013 at 01:19 #

no.. just no. I get ‘Dynasty tries to go Punk’ vibes from this look.
FC, thanks for staying up late to cover the event !

Love that she actually tried, but it just doesn’t work. The hair and shoes are just a no. If she would have done the mohawk a little differently and add a strappy sandal, I would have been down.

  14. Marybeth May 7, 2013 at 02:04 #

    NO. This is dreary.
But I do applaud her for trying to be on theme.

  15. Yeliz May 7, 2013 at 02:07 #

This isn’t working. Neither the gown, nor the hair or her accessories look good. I appreciate that she donned that ‘do, but it looks bad. And the gown looks kinda dated.

  16. Lyo May 7, 2013 at 03:10 #

Love it all, but the shoes… oh, the shoes… they’re UGLY!

  17. Anj May 7, 2013 at 03:30 #

Granted her dress is messy and I’m not a fan of the shoes, I can’t care though because I think her hair is just awesome. It’s so crazy it works. I love it.

  18. Moxie May 7, 2013 at 16:12 #

The hair is definitely on theme, but there’s nothing memorable about the dress.

  19. dee May 7, 2013 at 16:49 #

    This is dreadful.
