How To Get Emmy Rossum’s Lace Met Gala Manicure

Emmy Rossum Met Gala Nails

While many stars took a much less literal approach to the punk-theme of last night’s Met Gala, actress Emmy Rossum really went for her version of chic-meets-punk.

Her elaborate ‘faux-hawk’ inspired updo created with a series of twists and braids, her intense brown smoky eye and her over-extended brows–all quite punk.

Her Donna Karan Atelier gown, on the other hand, was much more delicate yet still served as the inspiration for her elaborate punk-chic manicure.

butter LONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador Katie Hughes created a custom nail effect for Emmy created with extra pieces of lace and crystals from the star’s dress, which were provided by Donna Karan.

Katie began by painting Emmy’s nails with two coats of butter LONDON’s Yummy Mummy, followed by one coat of the brand’s Hardwear P.D. Quick Top Coat.

Next, she cut individual pieces of lace to cover Emmy’s nails exactly, and gently placed them on the wet nails, letting the lace dry on top of the nail.

Once the nails were dry, Katie glued crystals on random spots on the nail.

The final product was surprisingly punk and completely unique. And while you likely won’t have designer lace, with supplies from a craft store, you can easily recreate this punk rock manicure at home.
