Gwyneth Paltrow In Valentino Couture – 2013 Met Gala

Gwyneth Paltrow In Valentino Couture - 2013 Met Gala

There was not a stitch of punk within Gwyneth Paltrow’s look for the 2013 Met Gala, held in New York City on Monday; however she was pretty in pink.

I wasn’t expecting too many to embrace the punk theme, so I am not surprised to see the actress opt for this Valentino Couture gown which was custom made which she styled with Wilfredo Rosado earrings.

You will be delighted to see that her pink gown features a nude insert in the shoulders, and not down the side of her skirt on this occasion.

As much as I love this look, I wish it was more fitted around the waist — at present, Gwyneth looks wider at the waist than she usually looks. Plus, I wish some punk element had been added to her look even if it was a studded Valentino clutch or a McQueen skull clutch.

What do you think?

I don’t like it. She looks beautiful, but this is not her gown. Also, it somehow looks incomplete… she needs a clutch or something.

This is too young and too much pink.

Love the hair and makeup, but that dress is too pink.

This would be a perfect outfit for last year’s Elsa Schiaparelli theme. She’s either too late or had mistaken her old invitation for the new one.
Also, this look reminds me so much of her 1999 Oscar look that it feels almost like an improved and updated version of it. However, I like it. I think she looks gorgeous and I totally love her hair, makeup and earrings.

I like Gwyneth but this is kind of pathetic. Nothing remotely in line with the theme, it doesn’t fit right and isn’t flattering. This is a big miss.

Didshe get in the way of those pesky yellow line painters? She is about as punk as a peanut.

One of her worst look, alsmot as wrong as her 99’s Oscar gown !

Ahhhh, but “the color of Punk is Pink” is a large part of the exhibit. The Clash used pink equipment, lots of album art utilized it as well.

I don’t hate this, but she could have done so much better. Vintage McQueen!!!

Her dress is a travesty when it’s a punk themed event or not.

  12. Yeliz May 7, 2013 at 02:29 #

Not liking this at all. Not the fit, not her boring styling.

  13. Aline May 7, 2013 at 02:26 #

At first one would think it’s got nothing to do with the theme, but hey, she’s wearing a different hairstyle and that is pretty punk for her standards, y/y?!?

No, seriously, I don’t usually dig her style, but I like it here. It suits her without being so bland.

One of the worst for me, even being a huge fan of Gwyneth’s looks.

This is like the MOB version of the dress she wore to win her Oscar…it’s kind of cringeworthy, imo. I mean, the sheer stripe is a fine concept but it goes across the sleeves and gives her this weird disembodied look. If that had been lace I would have been more sold on it it. The material is kind of stiff and shiny and sickeningly pink. Glad she styled her hair differently, but she should have gone more punk imo.

Yikes. One of the worst dressed tonight for me.

    A belt would’ve helped.

teriible, one of the worst. I kind of knew it would be terrible when I heard she was going with Valentino..she doesnt suit what is happening at that label right now. It’s too bad cause she killed it last year.

The fabric looks cheap and i hate the way it’s bunching and creasing at the seams. She could do better

  21. GG May 7, 2013 at 02:11 #

I really like the look. But her waist is very unflattering. If she would have thrown one of Valentino’s studded belt, I think it would have been better.

  22. Kathy May 7, 2013 at 02:09 #

I’m a diehard Valentino fan, but not on Gwenyth. And something about the fabric makes me think of a cheap balloon. The illusion panel is an interesting concept…unfortunately it’s not enough to make the entire look bearable.

She probably thought she had done enough punk for a lifetime with that infamous Oscars 2002 dress.

    • Mari May 7, 2013 at 02:10 #

At least this time her girls seems to have some support, whereas back then even her posture did not help her case.

    • Beta May 7, 2013 at 09:20 #

lol she should have brought this and I would have been a fan of her’s for a lifetime

I will preface this by saying I am no Paltrow fan, but this dress sets the bar way low. She did better when she was trying to copy Carolyn Bessette in the late ’90s.

  25. Mari May 7, 2013 at 02:03 #

Bland. She couls have done something with her make up or with her body, wear something more daring, as she is doing lately.
Not very flattering on her figure, and as much as I like pink, too peptobismolic.
At least she put up her straightened hair.

  26. mirela May 7, 2013 at 02:03 #

I’m not sure. It kinda looks like a pile of pink fabric thrown at her. :/
