Christina Ricci In Vivienne Westwood – 2013 Met Gala

Christina Ricci went mad for plaid at the 2013 Met Gala, hosted on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Rather appropriately, given the evening’s controversial theme, the actress relied on the queen of punk herself, Vivienne Westwood, to outfit her for the red carpet.

After last year’s jaw-dropping gown, Christina had big shoes to fill. And she did with this poufy, high-low couture gown that was gloriously adventurous and anti-establishment.

Pointy-toe Casadei platform pumps and black tights, natch, were necessary additions.

She infused some old-Hollywood glam into this punkish statement with her sparkling Harry Winston earrings and cuffs and her retro, side-parted pin curls, which elevated this moment to another level.

A hot red-orange lippie polished off the look.

She is boring now. I used to love her but now she just looks like everyone else in Hollywood.

Yes-Christina proves to be one of my favorite of all time. She is right on with the punk look, and makes it her own. Love everything about this- well done!

Like it. The dress is fun, quirky and theme appropriate. I’m not a fan of the styling and the hair could have been better, but overall, Christina is my favorite of the event, she looks glam, playful and punkish without trying too hard.

More 40s old Hollywood glamour than punk, IMO, but definitely memorable.

Thank you!. Whats punk without vivienne westwood?!

  7. toyosi May 7, 2013 at 12:26 #

Finally some Vivienne on the carpet! I don’t think the hair quite works with the theme of the gala, but Christina look beautiful. Not a fan of the tights tough.

I liked this WAY better than last year’s. i had hopped someone would wear Vivienne Westwood with the flannel print and it was Christina! Love.

Another perfectly good dress let down by the styling and accessories.

i was wondering when someone would turn up in westwood or alexander mcqueen. great look – i like what she is going for, but she looks a bit awkward

this cant compete with the unbelievable choices of previous years but its still great…I am shocked not more people wore westwood since she is basically the punkest in the industry.

    Plaid is punk? Hmmmm.
Well, I think the look is interesting, even rather cute and quirky, but……..puzzling.

    • Alicat May 7, 2013 at 12:12 #

Yes. Plaid was very much part of the punk look. Probably why Westwood used this fabric. She would know!!!

I love this. It reminds me of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.

I was initially slightly appalled when I heard that the theme of the Met Ball was punk, but I’m loving how interesting and unusual the outfits are.

I don’t know, she kinda looks like a suburban housewife in distress.

    • CreoleLady May 7, 2013 at 03:53 #

      LOL! OMG, too funny….

She has nailed it, especially going with a creation by Vivienne Westwood. I think she looks amazing!!!!

    • Anj May 7, 2013 at 03:46 #

Agreed. She totally hit the mark of the theme. Kudos to her.

    Boom. Very nice.

Christina is rocking this look! Love the punk mixed with the old Hollywood glam hair and make-up.

  21. Christine May 7, 2013 at 03:27 #

I liked her last year’s look better but kudos to wearing westwood.

Hike it up two inches, and then we’re in business. This is a VERY punk look–I kind of love it. Her styling is good too, not too much edge for such a marmite look. I think it works pretty well, though it’s not at all my style.

  23. justme May 7, 2013 at 03:23 #

I don’t get the styling. The retro waves don’t work at all imo, the clutch is too big and she should have selected other jewels.

It’s a shame because she has the perfect dress for this event.

    • Mandy May 7, 2013 at 10:29 #

Yes the hair almost ruins everything that is great about this look. Her dress says punk but her hair says hollywood glam.

    • dee May 7, 2013 at 14:44 #

      I agree.

  24. Dirk May 7, 2013 at 03:22 #

Not fond of the shoes but…
