Anna Wintour In Chanel Couture – 2013 Met Gala

Anna Wintour In Chanel Couture - 2013 Met Gala

The host of the night herself, Vogue editrix Anna Wintour, was one of the first down the red carpet at tonight’s Met Gala.

Wearing a Chanel Couture gown from the Spring 2013 collection, Anna embodies spring–only the night’s theme is punk!

Clearly, the editorial maven chose to do whatever she pleased, versus follow any sort of thematic structure, and that really is little surprise!

Her famed bob is perfect as usual, and her berry lip is the perfect match for her gown.

This is a lovely, vibrant look and if I dared complain about anything, it would of course be the total lack of punk. If I dared complain.

I think she looks really good. There was no doubt that Anna would do her own thing but it is a little disappointing.

so how do you expect people to follow the theme if you don’t wintour?!!!! can we remove her from the board….

She looks nice but not punk or a wow moment.

    Matronly, not punk.

wow, I guess Mrs Wintour thought she was above the theme. Nothing remotely punk about this. Too bad

Maybe she misread the invitation and thought Punk was Pink . I still like the look. This crowd couldn’t do Punk if Jonny rotten styled them personally. The ones that tried looked like they were at a Halloween party.

Nothing new. Same boring clothes she always is dressed in.

It’s not really going with the theme of the night, but she does look nice here.

    She looks ok.

I am guessing she knew that punk would just look ridiculous on her. So, she ignored it. But this dress, though pretty, is too young for her. Dakota Fanning–YES!

She looks absolutely radiant and amazing for her age! I prefer her dress to the longer, off-the-shoulder runway version. Not a fan of the black watch/bracelet, but I still love the look overall.

It’s a very pretty look, though I don’t like the weird little white shoulder wings–but it is NOT. PUNK. AT. ALL. Seriously, Anna? We expect more from you. I’m not usually a fan of punk, so I was looking forward to having various celebs make me like it/enjoy it/even have fun hating it. This is just boring!!!
(Also, if Carey Mulligan had worn this at the Gatsby World Premiere I would have cheered. It would have been right for her and the occasion.)

Much prefer the off-the-shoulder presentation, on Anna it’s a bit plain and matronly, the necklace is unnecessary. It’s still a fresh lovely look but certainly out of tune with the theme of the event.

+1. Double unacceptable for an editor of a famous fashion magazine.
