Michelle Dockery In Elie Saab – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Michelle Dockery In Elie Saab - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association

Michelle Dockery brought some British flair to the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night in Washington, D.C.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress showed us our highly anticipated second glance at Elie Saab’s Fall 2013 collection, after Jessica Biel debuted it at the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball.

This violet-purple peplum gown with sheer chiffon inlay is another example of a sequin- and bead-free moment from the bling-loving designer. Not that the look was completely shine-free, as metallic bangles and a clutch played nicely with the sculpted belt.

Michelle wore the dress well, although this is a look that’s made for walking, as I missed the magic of the gown’s runway movement.

A glam updo and a hot-fuchsia glossed pout finished the story, although with this ultra-violet colour, I would have liked to have seen a slightly more neutral lippie.

Amazing! That color is so beautiful against her skin and this is perfectly styled as well. Too bad there wasn’t a wind machine around so she could really work that dress.

I only love the gown. Her styling is just OK.

+1000. Exactly what I came in here to say!

The styling’s really not that great, which is a shamee. Also, is it just me, or does she always seem to have her hair up?

+1 The purple is a one stunning color.

      I agree.

    I love this dress!

I love this dress. Hard to tell but it looks like it’s not as sheer on Michelle as on the model, which is a good thing. I would have hemmed it a touch shorter.

I love the Lebanese fashion designers.

Trusting that the sheer sides are not so sheer on Michelle–loving the color and style of the gown. It’s one of the best of the night. Her simple styling works great!

The dress is fantastic but it’s the violet shade that is really amazing. Michelle does look good in it though I agree a lighter lip colour would have been better.

I love the dress! With a somewhat softer lip color and a good bra, this would definitely be one of the best of the night.
Even as it is, she looks nice.

A beautiful gown that looks really lovely on her. I actually like the strong lip color–otherwise the gown would have totally overpowered her pale complexion.

I’m totally on board with the strong lip colour as well – it enhances the look and prevents it from being one-dimensional.

+2. This violet color is fab on her, the strong lip works for me. Also pleased that what could be sheer panels up to the waist on the runway seem to be fully lined on Dockery. Have totally had it with the TMI a la Paltrow.

      I agree.

I agree about the lippie, it competes with the dress.

I think purple is a great color for her, it looks lovely against her skin. Also, the design of the dress is just her style. But she really needed a bra. The saggy breast area prevents me from loving the overrall look.

And I wish she had kept her hair down, especially now that she’s sporting a shorter length. It would make her look more youthful.

I only like the dress, which is really beautiful, but not the styling, most of all the make up.

  13. Jess2 April 29, 2013 at 12:00 #

I really like this, I think it’s one of her best looks.

We watched the celebs getting out of their cars on the way into the dinner and she really looked gorg in person. That color is AMAZING on her and her skin is just radiant!

Absolutely gorgeous dress. One of the best dressed of the night for me. While I think the dress needed a strong lip color to go with it, I think this particular color isn’t working.
