Matthew McConaughey In Vivienne Westwood MAN – ‘Mud’ New York Screening

Matthew McConaughey In Vivienne Westwood MAN - 'Mud' New York Screening

Matthew McConaughey attended a screening of his movie ‘Mud’ held at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Sunday.

The actor, who made a lot of changes to his physical appearance for this role, made a pretty drastic change to his red carpet look.

Known for wearing Dolce & Gabbana pretty exclusively during his career, the actor opted for a Vivienne Westwood MAN suit on this occasion.

Not just any suit: a navy-and-burgundy plaid suit featuring a notched-lapel blazer with an attached button-front vest and a logo-engraved-button-accented chain closure.

You may remember that Nick Cannon wore a similar-style suit recently.

I love this new look for Matthew. He has done the Italian sleek suit for so long that I appreciate him adding some British eccentricity to his red carpet look.

Do you?

    This is awesome!

Uhh, I hate both the fabric and the colour. Too costumey for my taste.
Perfectly tailored, I have to add.

I don’t think this really suits him. I appreciate him trying something new. I can see RDJ wearing this.

He is not working this look. Kudos for trying something different.

Not a fan. Hate the suit. The fabric is dreadful and the chain closure is so pretentious.

This is one ugly creation, looks like a dye job gone bad. Matthew is doing the best he can to pull it off, I don’t think it would look good on anyone.

wanna put my comment a bit differently…as much as I don’t care for this suit, I think Matthew is rocking it, the fit is impeccable, the silhouette is sharp, and he’s got a great confident presence to work it, if I wanted to see this suit on anyone, Matthew would be the right person for it. So kudos to him for attempting and working this tricky suit.

I’d like to add that I strongly disagree with the suggestion of RDJr., he would turn this already tricky suit into a joke and make it look plain comical/costumey whereas Matthew is carrying it with mature manly confidence and charisma.

    I WANT IT!
    BDOTW worthy

  8. Wren April 22, 2013 at 16:13 #

Love it. So different and inspired – I would expect to see this on Eddie, so I’m glad Matthew is taking some risks.

  9. Moxie April 22, 2013 at 17:20 #

    It is certainly dramatic.

  10. Yeliz April 22, 2013 at 17:43 #

The fabric of this suit is really bad. But kudos to him for trying something new.

amazing. already have my BDOTW on monday morning

  12. Ali April 22, 2013 at 18:54 #

Make it stop! He’s just the wrong man for that suit.

No, I don’t like, great fit but I don’t like the fabric, the pattern… This suit would be good for Robert Downey Jr. Even if I appreciate his attempt to try something new, I prefer him with classic suits.

    He looks brilliant!

  15. EmmaWoodhouse April 22, 2013 at 23:12 #

Not sure if this is a bold and BDMOTW-worthy attempt or just too quirky to work. Whatever it is, he’s selling it with a lot of confidence a flawless fit. I think I like it, if just for the fun element.

    • Denise April 23, 2013 at 07:40 #

Agree on the flawless fit. I think he pulls it off. He looks confident and confortable.

  16. TeaAtTwo April 23, 2013 at 14:26 #

I adore this suit, it’s bold without being over the top, I commend him for rocking it. The fit is great. Not totally sure the white shirt would have been my first choice but I still think it’s BDOTW worthy.

    I freaking love it!!!
