Carey Mulligan In Victoria Beckham – Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball

Carey Mulligan In Victoria Beckham - Tiffany & Co Blue Book Ball

With the promo tour for ‘The Great Gatsby’ soon to get started, we are going to be seeing a lot of Carey Mulligan over the coming weeks.

She joined Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson on the red carpet for last night’s Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball, held at the Rockefeller Center in New York City.

This is our first look at the Victoria Beckham Fall 2013 collection on anyone other than the designer herself.

The British actress and Vogue cover girl selected an uber-chic ‘Le Smoking’ tuxedo suit featuring satin shawl collar lapels and a contemporary slashed-sleeves twist.

Taking inspiration from the runway, Carey opted for barely there (if any) makeup and black pumps, with subtle Tiffany and Co. jewels provided the finishing touches.

With her hair dyed a platinum blonde hue and sporting a natural look, Carey does look a tad washed out; however, I do love this bold masculine red carpet look.

She does look a little washed out, a bold lip would have improved this look, but still…I think it’s a great look.
Maybe it’s because recently I have been obsessed with capes and cape-like stuff, but I just LOVE this tuxedo, and Carey wears it really well.

    SHE. HAS. NEVER. LOOKED. BETTER.

I love this chic, sharply tailored look. The simplicity suits her. However, the hair colour and styling is harsh. Together with the pale makeup I agree that she lacks life and colour. In fact, it is very aging.

Oh WOW! Enough said, how can someone so pintsize make such a bold and directional look work, she looks STRONG, DIRECTIONAL & oh so chic! A red lipstick would have sealed this like a letter. still i adore

Is it just me, or does this look have a bit of Dracula-vibe?

      I vannto sick your blood!
I think she looks positively ridiculous.

      • Christine April 19, 2013 at 15:18 #

First thought and that she looks pregnant.

  6. Denise April 19, 2013 at 10:18 #

I totally love this exquisite tuxedo but not the makeup.

  7. Yeliz April 19, 2013 at 10:29 #

I don’t know..the tuxedo does look great on her, but she looks kinda uncomfortable to me. And I really don’t like that she had barely makeup on, she looks washed out.

  8. AG April 19, 2013 at 11:04 #

Really cool, modern look! A red lip would have finished it off nicely though.

  9. bm April 19, 2013 at 12:47 #

I wanna love it, simply because she want to try something new. But she doesn’t have that aura to carry such this look.

  10. Rafael April 19, 2013 at 12:48 #

Ok I know not every one is going to be happy with this comment but I have to say I love this look. And I’m not a fan of Carey’s style choices cause I think she can do better and this looks proves that. I love the styling of it. She’s really selling it. Even rocking it I have to say. I love it, She looks fabulous. I hope this is a good sign of a new root style wise for Carey on this promo.

I like that she’s doing something new, and I also applaud her nearly makeup-free choice. She is so beautiful. The earrings are fab as well. My issue is with the plunge-neck. I know I sound redundant, but it is NEVER classy or appropriate in my opinion. I love the split sleeves, but not the neckline.

  12. dee April 19, 2013 at 13:26 #

I think she needs a bold lipcolor or smokey eyes. I like this despite the makeup.

  13. Emmeline April 19, 2013 at 13:35 #

From the neck down, I love it. She looks so chic.

But she definitely needed some bolder makeup and I really wish she’d give up the bleached blonde hair. It’s so unflattering on her and just washes everything out.

  14. amanda April 19, 2013 at 15:44 #

I would have gone for a smoky eye, but i think she looks incredibly striking. Plus, with that color hair, she looks like a young Cate Blanchett.

  15. Amy April 19, 2013 at 15:58 #

I like it, it’s bold and understated at the same time (if I’m making any sense). I do wish she opted for another makeup. She looks quite washed out

  16. Susan April 19, 2013 at 17:02 #

This is a very different look and I don’t like it. It’s not an outfit that I would ever be interested in buying.

  17. Petra April 19, 2013 at 17:25 #

WOW. It’s been a while since someone blew me away with a tuxedo-style outfit. She looks stunning and damn sexy.

  18. Nat39 April 19, 2013 at 18:02 #

Love the sleek modern design, and it works great on Carey, BDOTW worthy for me.

    • admmgz April 19, 2013 at 19:14 #

      +1

  19. Anj April 19, 2013 at 18:18 #

I’m envious she can go out without makeup but this strong outfit requires a strong makeup look. Also, I just don’t like this on her. Maybe on someone like Julianne Moore, but this isn’t Carey’s schtick.

  20. Noemi April 19, 2013 at 18:39 #

I really like the outfit but she looks a bit washed out, and lifeless. A bit of blush maybe would have helped.

  21. Leo April 19, 2013 at 19:36 #

I looooooooved this look sooo much.

  22. Pedro April 19, 2013 at 19:55 #

    Her best look EVER!

    Chic, stylish, fierce and fresh.

Love love love. BDOTW for sure

  23. TeaAtTwo April 19, 2013 at 19:59 #

I swap the T-bar for regular pumps but I think she looks uber chic.

  24. Aline April 19, 2013 at 23:48 #

I REALLY don’t like anything about this look.

  25. Laurie April 20, 2013 at 00:33 #

What happened to her? She looks terrible. It looks like she’s trying to be goth, but that’s a terrible direction for her to go in. Hope this isn’t a sign of what’s to come. blech

  26. Dhppy April 20, 2013 at 03:46 #

Oh no! This does not work for her. In this photo it looks as if she’s added 45 years!

Wow that was strange. I just wrote an very long comment
but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again.
Anyways, just wanted to say excellent blog!

  28. Prudence April 20, 2013 at 20:22 #

Love this look, I am sooo glad she has got a movie out cause this girl can dress. I know I wont be seeing any strapless chiffon dress from her EVER.

  29. me April 21, 2013 at 18:49 #

    Not impressed

  30. Valeria April 22, 2013 at 07:38 #

She looks stunning! Despite my strong aversion to slashed sleeves I think it’s a winnin look and I applaud to her make-up artist for perfect illusion of non-made-up face. Some call it washed out but I call it fresh faced
