Sammi Cheng In Valentino – 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards

Sammi Cheng In Valentino - 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards

Sammi Cheng attended the 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards on Saturday.

The best actress nominee looked lovely in a demure, long-sleeved Valentino gown.

Although there is a lot going on here with the beading, the applique, the structural sleeve details and yoke, this gown still works, because of the simple nude and white color palette.

And by not accessorizing at all, Sammi proves herself to be a red carpet pro, since any jewelry would have overpowered this already powerful look.

I really like this dramatic-yet-delicate gown. Do you?

This dress is so lovely. Her hair is so severe for such a delicate gown. Slicked back with a little top volume would have been the perfect cap-off.

i agree about the hair. the gown is so lovely

My thoughts exactly. The hair is too severe. The dress is beautiful on her.

Pretty beading but not liking the bib like shape on the front.

Ms Cheng looks fabulous..any thing more would be over the top..the hair is so good!! Not severe and “male” it’s fem with edge..takes the outfit out of the cloyingly sweet to BDOTW!!

I concur. The dichotomy of masculine and feminine is what modernises this look and sends it over the edge from pretty to POW.

exactly! the hair is perfect. long sleeve dresses can be too severe, but with that cool hairstyle it’s perfect

I too agre about her hair – the combination of ultra feminine gown and chic short hair makes it look modern rather than fussy. Love it.

The hair is too severe for the delicate look. Also not a big fan of the bib.

  5. Nat39 April 15, 2013 at 16:25 #

Lovely, the gown is demure yet fresh and elegant, I like that she took simple approach to her styling but this hairstyle isn’t working here at all – it is completely out of tune with the delicate femininity of the look.

The gown looks stunning on her, I love it, but I agree with Nat39, the hairstyle isn’t working.

she looks fab.. i actually do like the hair.. if u do know her, she tends to b more edgy and funky.. its very refreshing to see her in a delicate gown.. n she has the slender figure to pull this off… i relly lover her in this! btw, she won a best dressed award at this event…

Love it! Incredible dress. I don’t think there was a better posibility for the hair.

I really like the styling. The dress looks better on her as it accentuates the waist unlike on the model. It’s a very interesting, yet chic look. :D

My immediate reaction was that the sharp hair was wrong with this dress but on reflection it does send it in a great new direction and prevents it looking atypical of valentino gowns.

Love it. Best dressed nominee for me

Her hairstyle is a little harsh but overall this look is beautiful, a serious BDOTW contender in my eyes. I love the intricacy.

Her hair is what makes this presentation very interesting, as it is not a run of the mill type feminine looks but beautifully enhances the loveliness of this ultra-feminine dress and pushes it further with her character.
