Christa B. Allen In Alice + Olivia – Second Annual FABB West Opening Night Cocktail Party

Christa B Allen In Alice + Olivia - Second Annual FABB West Opening Night Cocktail Party

Christa B. Allen attended the Second Annual FABB West Opening Night Cocktail Party at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening.

At 21 years old, wearing this cutesy Alice + Olivia strapless watercolour sweetheart-neckline dress, you really should be saying to yourself or your stylist, “I’m too old to be wearing a dress like this.”

Save this dress for the Hollywood teens, Sami Gayle, Zendaya Coleman or Bella Thorne.

This dress is way too twee for Christa. The styling tells me that she’s simply not aware of this fact.

You can always tell when a star has gone from one stylist to another; she’s gone from wearing edgy, fashion-forward designs, by Jean Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani and David Koma, to this.

Yes, it’s a bit twee for her, but I don’t totally dislike this look. The dress, the shoes, the nail polish, makeup and hair actually work well together.

Way too young and tiny for her, it’s obvious, looks like she got dressed in her little sister’s closet, and I much prefer the cute belt over her waistband.

Pretty print but way too short, small, and twee. Also miss the belt.

Too young and the dress really needed the straps to help hold the top up.

The JPG and Armani looks were sooo much better. She needs to beg her old stylist to come back.

Personally, I don’t think it’s the dress that’s too young for her. I doubt the model is much younger than her, and she is working it perfectly (of course that’s a given, it’s the lookbook). What Christa needed was a quirky touch, like that high bun or some accessory to lighten up the vibe. Her hair and shoes scream “I want to be taken seriously!” while her dress is cute and conventionally pretty. IMO that’s why it doesn’t work. I can see Taylor Swift, Rachel Bilson and Ariana Grande in that dress, so it’s not age that’s the issue here.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s too young for her per se, but the styling pulls her down– for example, I am missing the belt and straps from the lookbook… She should have gone for a spring pastel styling rather than this, which feels a little 90s prom with the hair.

“You can always tell when a star has gone from one stylist to another”

    This is very true.

With the right styling the dress could have worked for her, but the way it is put together – removing the straps, putting that awful wide belt thing on and the unflattering shoes – also the hair is a mess – just makes the whole look very wrong. At 21 she isn’t over the hill and should be able to wear this, but the styling killed it.
