Beyonce Knowles For Vogue UK May 2013

Vogue UK Beyonce Knowles May 2013

Beyonce Knowles covers the May 2013 issue of British Vogue following her March 2013 American Vogue cover.

Baring her midriff, the singer makes her long-overdue Vogue UK cover debut wearing a Jonathan Saunders striped crop top with a sequined pencil skirt. You may remember that she also donned a crop top for the February 2013 issue of GQ Magazine.

The in-demand cover star will soon embark on her Mrs Carter World Tour, and if you are anything like me you are bummed that you spent 2 hours of your life on two separate days trying and failing to secure tickets to what is most likely going to be an epic event.

In the mag, which hits newsstands on Monday, April 8, the singer talks about equal rights, marriage, motherhood, her music journey, her husband, and her demanding job, plus she defends using Mrs Carter for her world tour name.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

On believing in equal rights for all: “But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything? I’m just a woman and I love being a woman. I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it’s something that’s pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept.”

On her demanding job: “I’m always bruised somewhere – my legs, my hips. But you’ve already started so you’ve just gotta fight through it.”

On defending using Mrs. Carter for her world tour name: “I feel like Mrs Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been. It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, ‘OK, this is what you were born to do’. The purpose of my body became completely different.”

Wow I’ve never thought I would say that but we’ve reached a Beyonce saturation. Since the announcement f her performance at the SuperBowl, girl has been everywhere.
The cover is less than stellar

I like the skirt and top but not liking her pose.

Bored. Not only is the cover awkward, the crop top is tacky and unflattering. I like the skirt, but that’s it. Her expression is awful. The interview…bleh.

You can still see her at the Sound of Change event. She is the headliner and co founder of the movement. It’s for great causes, cheaper than her actual show and there are still a lot of tickets available.. Plus you get to see John Legend, Timbaland, Florence + The Machine etc in the same night.. Perfect mix of fashion, music and charity :))

This is a terrible cover. Her body is awkwardly positioned, her outfit is bad especially for Vogue, and her hair and makeup are a letdown.
Don’t lie to me and tell me they didn’t have a better picture on hand!

She seems to be EVERYWHERE these days. While she is a great entertainer and I understand that she’s promoting the tour, two back-to-back Vogue covers (albeit from different countries) is too much. Neither of the two covers and interviews is that interesting, to be honest. This outfit on Vogue UK? I expected more.

My bad, these are not back-to-back Vogue covers. But she’s still had two covers in three months…

I know she’s not exactly a firecracker but I think she’s such a good role model and I’m glad she’s out there. I’m so tired of seeing people like Rihanna and Kristen Stewart on covers. And she looks better and more herself here than she did on her US Vogue cover.

Unflattering photo and boring interview. I am tired of seeing her.
