Saoirse Ronan attended the ‘The Host’ LA premiere held at ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California with co-star Diane Kruger last night.
I hate to say this out loud, but I was a tad disappointed by her Lanvin Spring 2013 dress.
The Irish actress usually uses the red carpet to showcase a new designer or an edgy piece; however, this falls into neither category.
While I don’t hate the dress – the maroon colour is gorgeous and I do like the black side bow – this is very blah for someone like Saoirse, right down to the Hollywood black pumps by Lanvin.
Being so young, she has the chance to continue to experiment with fashion; I just wish last night had been one of the nights she’d excited rather than blended in.
EF Collection and J/Hadley onyx jewels completed her look.

I like the dress, but I agree with CK. She looks underdressed for the premiere.
the dress is fine..she’s the meh..from lackluster hair to boring accessories..meh
This is too plain for a premiere.
Seriously this is so disappointing.
Agree, very very disappointing for her own movie premiere.
PS: But i love the color!
My biggest issue is her hair. Very lackluster. The shoes and dress are nice on her.
I agree completely. The color of her dress is divine and the shoes work. Her hair is ruining the sleek look as is that sad bracelet.
i love it…such a great colour on her…i would just prefer more interesting shoes…she looks classy and effortless like a young Blanchett!
I actually really like this look! The shoes are a tad boring, but I don’t hate them. The messy (blonder!) hair works to make this a tad edgier.
Anne, you plucked the thoughts directly from my brain!
She looks elegant without effort.
She looks nice but so boring for a movie premiere in which she stars as the leading lady. This could have been perfect for a photocall.
I forgot is the leading lady. Diane stole her thunder
I like it!
I like it! Effortless cool.
I absolutely love the dress. And she wears it so much better than the model (who’s painfully thin)
Not so much the shoes though.
Hm, nothing really wrong with it, but also really nothing to get excited about. I love the pink pop on the runway. Saoirse’s take on the look is missing something like it.
She looks absolutely perfect dressed for the occasion. It is a movie premiere, not a party or a ball. In fact lots of stars are overdressed for premieres.
I really like this, tho perhaps it is a bit underplayed for a premiere. I think she looks sophisticated and chic and I also agree with Anne about the messy hair. I like the simplicity of this look and the fabulous rich color of the dress.
If it weren’t for the shoes, I’d be OVER THE MOON about this look.
I really like this look, she’s giving me this really cool and chic vibe which I think really makes this work, I like how it kinda feels “I just got out of bed”.
This must be her version of a style experiment or stepping out of her comfort zone. It’s really not too bad.
I actually really like this. Sometimes i think actress can be too overdone at premieres especially when they wear award-season-worthy dresses all year round. I don’t mind her dialing it back.
She needs to step it up. The color is gorgeous, but the rest of look is as flat as week-old soda. It’s her premiere!!!
Plain styling but I like the dress. This dress with Diane’s Choo booties and styling would’ve made a really good look.
We have this expectation for young celebrities to bring a ton of variety to the red carpet (plus, most have stylists so there’s really no excuse to look mediocre). While I’m not a huge fan of this look, I do like the rich fabric and beautiful color. However, I don’t like the shoes, and she could have livened up her hair.
