With the black-and-white trend set to continue right up until summer, I was thankful that Michelle Monaghan added some colour to the red carpet this weekend.

The brunette actress attended the ‘Gus’ premiere during the 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival held at the Topfer Theatre at ZACH in Austin, Texas on Saturday afternoon.

Dressed in an enticingly hot florescent-red hue, her Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2013 ‘Jarrett’ diamond crepe dress features a contrasting nude panel which gives this classic silhouette a modern spin.

Irene Neuwirth jewelry, nude Casadei pumps with contrasting orange piping and a wooden Lanvin box clutch accessorized her look, with curled tresses and kohl-rimmed eyes completing her trans-seasonal luxe look.

Sharp, clean, simple without being boring. The vibrant colour keeps it fresh and exciting while the contrasting panel makes it modern. Her styling is spot-on. Her accessories complement the dress without distracting or competing with it. She looks chic and fresh. My only concern is the fit – the dress seems to be hanging off her slightly.

Chic, though I’m not usually an orange person. The shoes were a thoughtful choice, but the duller orange and nude don’t go.
