Kate Beckinsale In Monique Lhuillier – 2013 Vanity Fair Party

Kate Beckinsale In Monique Lhuillier - 2013 Vanity Fair Party Kate Beckinsale practically exploded onto the scene with her glittery gown at the the 2013 Vanity Fair Party, hosted at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood.

Like some other Oscars after-party favourites, including Naomie Harris and Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate stunned in Monique Lhuillier—except her confection was fresh off its Fall 2013 runway debut at New York Fashion Week.

The designer’s collection was red-carpet worthy, so I’m glad the British actress gave this embellished tulle piece some time in the spotlight.

The deco-like embroidery reminded me of a fireworks grand finale, while the above-the-ankle length was a delightful change from the flock of floor-grazing gowns seen on Sunday night.

Kate let her dress have all the sparkle, only accessorizing with small Chopard diamond studs and a simple pair of black ankle-strap heels.

A youthful high ponytail finished this look with a fun flourish.

I love Kate and Monique Lhuillier. But I’m not fond of this dress on her. And I’ve had enough of this hairstyle.

Wrong hairstyle for this kind of a grand dress.

I adore this fun, festive dress, and it looks great (and unexpected on Kate). Frankly, I’d love Hailee Steinfeld to have worn it, lol! The ponytail is a bit tired, but the look is quite good and she is statuesque enough to pull off that length.

    this. is. perfection.

  5. LC February 26, 2013 at 06:13 #

I love it… but I think it would look better either longer or shorter.

  6. Yeliz February 26, 2013 at 06:19 #

Love it from the neck down not head to toe because she almost always sports this high ponytail, which I think is boring.

I am a little tired of that hairstyle on Kate but she does look so effortlessly pretty. she can almost do no wrong in my eyes. I love this dress on her. It perfect for a cocktail style event. Festive, flirty and fun.

P.S. FC I’m wondering if you will be doing more VF Party reviews? (Not that I’m trying to push you along or anything) I would love to see what you thought of Maria Sharapova’s look which I thought was a massive improvement from last year’s event.

A better hairstyle would have been better, but I like it anyway. Great dress, lovely shoes, beautiful woman!

i like the dress, but not on her… and the hairstyle looks soo dated on her… shes kind of stale to me nowadays…

I love Kate’s style and her red carpet choices have always been great. But why, oh, why, does she insist on reusing this same hairstyle over and over again?

  12. Moxie February 26, 2013 at 14:51 #

Love the dress, not the hair.

  13. Marybeth February 26, 2013 at 16:16 #

I love the dress and she wears it well but the hair ruins the look for me. It’s not the best style for the dress to begin with and the *&%$ ombre makes it horrid. It looks like a brunette with a simple bun slapped a cheap blonde wig on top of her head.

When I see this dress, it makes me want to shout, “Partaayy!” Although it’s formal, it’s still fun. That’s why I don’t get why people have issues with the hair. Her hair is a more formal fun version of a ponytail. Her dress is the same. They make sense. I love her. The end.

not working, and she usually does.

  16. gabis February 27, 2013 at 11:59 #

I can cope with everything but the hair which I find tacky, dated and sadly something she’s been wearing very often lately.

I love this from the face down, the dress is so beautiful and I’m all for the absence of pumps. I am over the hair though, it’s always the same.
