Hailee Steinfeld joined a host of other PYTs at the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscars Party, hosted by editor Graydon Carter last night at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood.
But her Valentino dress was neither pretty nor young.
The heavy leather gown, paired with a Jill Milan clutch, was a near sin for this actress. Her girlish figure was completely covered up from head to toe in overwrought fabric. I couldn’t get past that white bib either.

The undone updo didn’t help matters here either, although she really couldn’t have worn her hair down.
At the sweet age of 16, this bright-eyed starlet can do so much better.

Oh my, this gown is so not for a 16-year-old girl. I’m never a fan of a leather gown and this one ages her drastically. It’s like they put their young face into someone else’s body.

But Mom! It’s leather! So exactly what a 16 year old girl would want to wear (even better if it were low cut or super short) but shouldn’t. It’s awful, but she is right on target for her age.

Even the great ones can fall. Steinfeld is usually so impeccable. I don’t where to look.
Valentino has managed to charm, (or strong arm) most of Hollywood into wearing it’s gowns this year and overall, the results haven’t turned out well.
She looks cute, but I agree the dress is too mature for such a young girl.
Too heavy and too dark. Definitely not for a 16 year old young girl. This will be one of my least favorites of the Oscar night.
Love the hair and the sheer sleeves, but that leather I just don’t understand. The whole dress is self-contradictory. Black leather with white lace? What the heck?
