Marching to the beat of her own drum, Katie Aselton didn’t opt for a summery hue, instead opting for a smouldering black and silver look for the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards on Santa Monica Beach in California this afternoon.
The actress wore a Wes Gordon dress.
Her shimmering Chantilly lace and silk tulle embroidered layered dress was styled with a sexy pair of Rupert Sanderson ‘Teoni’ sandals.
Taking her embellished high neckline into consideration, the actress swept her hair up into a high bun to complete her sultry look.
Do you like that Katie did something different, or do you think this look was out of tune for a 10.30 am red carpet event on the beach?

Not event appropriate at all. I also don’t like how we can see her bra.
Yes, it’s too dark and heavy for a relaxed daytime event by the beach.
+1
I love this. It’s similar to Jennifer Lawrence’s but more romantic. The dress has a laid back cool quality to it that works for the event and she is carrying it off nicely. One of my favorites.
Out of place. She looks lost.
Beautiful, elegant, sophisticated but still sexy! one of my favorites
Yeah, it’s too formal for daytime. But I really like the idea of this. She looks nice. Like the choice of shoes.
She does look good but it looks more of an evening outfit.
Trusting that this is thoroughly lined, I LOVE it. It is dark but not heavy, making it an eclectic but not out of place choice for this event. Plus with fresh-faced makeup and simple hair, she didn’t over-glam it. I like!
I don’t really like the drop-waist connection between top and skirt. She looks pretty and well put together but I don’t think the look fits the event.
I like the dress, but 10.30am and on the beach… really?!
