Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013

Christopher Bailey presented his Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 collection to a packed house at Kensington Gardens in London yesterday. As always, it was the hottest ticket for London Fashion Week.

Inspired by Burberry classics and Christine Keeler, the theme ‘Trench Kisses’ quickly made sense as models took to the runway wearing updated trench coats, some with sheer latex, and sweetheart prints.

It wasn’t all sweetness and light; there was an edgier side to the ‘Trench Kisses’ collection, with models wearing latex skirts with revealing panties, military-style coats, fringed leather skirts accented with grommets – which featured several times in this collection – python trench coats and plenty of animal-print pieces, which I’m sure we will see on the likes of Kate Moss.

After a selection of striped pieces, the collection moved on to eveningwear, something that Burberry doesn’t always present on the runway. We usually only get a glimpse of the brand’s eveningwear at major events, like the Met Gala or the BAFTAs.

Speaking of the BAFTAs, a white, shorter version of Anne Hathaway’s gown featured in this collection, alongside two black halter dresses with gold accents at the neckline. I hope to see full-length versions of both these dresses on the red carpet soon.

Key accessories included the ‘Crush’ bag, Kitten wedges, animal print sunglasses and gold band belts.

The show marked Burberry’s debut of Runway Made to Order, a service that offers custom-made outerwear and bags from the collection featuring personalised engraved nameplates. Runway coats and bags are now available for two weeks on Burberry.com, for delivery in just nine weeks.
