Reem Acra’s Fall 2013 collection was inspired by a recent trip to Japan and a meeting with artist Daido Moriyama.
The influence was hinted at in the silhouettes and the lavish floral appliqués and embroideries, which were simply breathtaking.
I love how the designer played with volumes and shapes. We saw everything, from the luxuriously oversized to lean and sculpted, ranging from traditional kimonos to streamlined column gowns on a colour palette of mostly black, white and red.
I was quite taken by the tweed kimono coat worn over the ink-dot blouse with a houndstooth skirt for daywear, but it was the gowns I was most delighted to see.
The Lebanese designer, who is a hit with A-listers, served up gorgeous gowns ranging from beaded, embroidered, and figure-hugging to elaborate ball gowns, which should take pride of place on the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in LA at some point… hopefully very soon.

Gorgeous, look 35 is a show-stopper. My favourite looks are 31 and 24.
It’s a gorgeous collection, but overall not my favourite Reem Acra collection.
Look 35 is incredible.
Hoping to see this one at the oscars night!!
My favorite is Look 31. 35 is beautiful too.
27 and 33 are beautiful too
I’d love to see look 35 on Eva Green.
Love: the exquisite Japanese influence in kimono silhouettes, obi belts and embroidery, the drama and the opulence.
Not feeling: sheerness and plunging necklines.
Normally I love Reem Acra more. Only feeling Looks 1, 30, and 33
Look 11, 14, 26, 27, 30 are my favorites.
Love the black and white gown featured in the last picture here. Gorgeous collection.
Quite a few I’d to see for a photocall or chat show appearance. The was modern Hitchcock woman vibe going on. I love the drama and embroidery of the look 35 gown above.
I know it’s not her style but I’d love to see Rooney Mara in the look 35 gown.
