Kate Hudson certainly put the red in red carpet when she posed for photographers at the 2013 Elle Style Awards, held at London’s Savoy Hotel on Monday evening.
The actress has been longtime friends with Stella McCartney, so it’s no surprise she had her designer pal dress her for the fashionable night.
What was more surprising was the intensity of this strapless dress, what with its sculpted, backless bodice and illusion lace panels that followed the length of the entire gown.
To go with this va-va-voom moment, Kate swept her hair back into an effortless updo, which nearly seemed a bit casual for this look. She did avoid the temptation of a too-sparkly necklace, only putting on drop earrings and carrying a black Stella clutch.
Stella won the event’s best International Designer award. And, you guessed it: The prize was presented by none other than our lady in red, Kate.

Love! She has been looking so radiant lately. This is the hair I wish she had worn for her McQueen gown.
Wow. Excuse me while I swoon over that dress.
The earring and clutch leave something to be desired, but DAT DRESS.
Not the best choice of accessories perhaps a bit prettier earrings and a gold metallic clutch would’ve worked better, but the gown is lovely, she looks statuesque and certainly has the poise to carry it off.

Reminds me of the vintage Versace she wore awhile back w/o the illusion neckline. This look isn’t a favorite of mine. Sitting too low and a too revealing top. The rest is just OK.
She looks good in red but not in this. I prefer her Prabal Gurung Red dress to this.
