Florence Welch, who’s a lover of the dramatic and detailed, didn’t disappoint in a head-to-toe emerald green look at Sunday’s 2013 Grammy Awards at the Los Angeles Staples Center.
The dual nominee walked the red carpet in a custom gown that was modified from a Givenchy Fall 2009 Couture design.
Offering a fresh and oversized spin on the studded trend, the gown lit up the night’s events with a full-on sequined design. Adding a sultry element to the dress was a thigh-grazing slit that showed just the right amount of skin.
The singer accessorized with matching green strappy sandals and a box clutch, also by Givenchy. In addition to a bevy of rings, the look was finished with gilded nails, a moody red lip colour and face-framing strands of the singer’s famous red locks.

This is the perfect gown for Florence! So nice to see her try something new. She looks amazing head to toe.
This is one of my favorites from tonight – LOVE this on her.
She looks spectacular.
Amazing dress!!! How lucky she is to get a Givenchy gown custom made for her.
So different and fresh! I really do love this, one of my favourites!
The spikes and the shade of green reminds me of dinosaurs, she looks stunning anyway.
I was hesitant to comment as I thought i’d be the only one who read reptile fromt this look.
I will add though, that she’s the only person I can think of who this gown remotely suits
Reptile was my first thought. She pulls it off, though.
A green dragon lady
My thoughts exactly — and I agree that she still looks good!
This is perfection. I love the rebel/rocker chick vibe I’m getting, and it is so effortless. I could imagine Jessie J wearing this and having a worse impact because Florence has a mysterious aura that comes off her. Favorite of the night, and probably bested my fave from the BAFTAS.
She looks amazing!
Fierce
She is also wearing Sorellina jewelry!
My mind immediately went to dinosaurs, too. :/
Maybe if it wasn’t green? It’s a gorgeous colors though. Chop off all the spikes and she would have been one sexy lady!
PERFECTION! My favorite red carpet look of the year so far!
My goddess did not disappoint. She seems to be glowing, its probably because she’s captivating and she knows it.
only she can pull off something like this! it’s brilliant! hail florence!
She looks fantastic. I agree with the ogre, only Florence can pull this off.
The dress is amazing but I really wish she’d done something different with her hair. It needed to be slicker and sleeker.
I thought the same thing at first glance but upon reflection think she made the right decision. The soft hair gives the look a romantic, medieval touch — an air of mystery and femininity. Slick hair would end up being too sci-fi and cold.
color, shape, accessories, hair, make up: amazing.
i’m in love.
This is red carpet couture at its very best!
WOWWW AMAZING!! I still havent finished looking through all of the looks but I already know this is one of the top three if not the best!
I love this look for her, edgy, dramatic and still pretty.
Love this head to toe! The colour is amazing, as are the edgy details.
She dressed like a true “rock star” without the cheap exposure that we use to see in a lot of A-listers.
It’s rare that you see a modified version of the dress that looks more interesting than the runway version. Fabulous.
As some others have said, it feels very reptilian/dinosaur like. Other than the slit–which doesn’t work for me–I still don’t like this look. It’s kind of creepy and alien though I do love the color on her.
Best of the night by far it was fun and fabulous without being tacky,
Just OK for me.
I dont like it, mainly because of her face expression, she coudlve smiled once in a while… :/
Hate the studs/spikes. But at the same time, they’re perfect for her style and this dress might be a little too plain for her without them. On pretty much anyone else, the dress without the spikes would be absolutely perfect, but this is Florence were talking about. So overall…I’m loving this look!
Hideous, one of the worst of the night for me. It’s shiny, it’s full-on green, it has studs and spikes, her matchy-matchy all green styling isn’t helping, it’s so ott reptilic and one-note green. The green suits the red hair, I get it, but she went overboard with it. Awful. Big thumbs down from me.
She is serving dragon couture realness. It’s original but sadly, I don’t like this dress.
I also think that her hairstyle doesn’t fit the vibe of it.
The Grammys is one of the few places I’d like too see these studs. It gives quirkiness to the glamour of the rest of the dress. I love the green with her red hair.
I realize I’m in the minority, but I really hate this dress. Usually love Florence’s quirky style, but the intensely shiny green and those spikes make me think of dinosaurs or of armor from some scifi/fantasy show or computer game. Lol! Clearly I know too many geeks.
Best dressed of the Grammys.
SHe reminds me of Ninja turtle
Florence does it again! That dress looks fantastic on her! She pulls off that futuristic lizard lady look!
Beautiful, that’s it. She nailed it.
