Florence Welch In Givenchy Couture – 2013 Grammy Awards

Florence Welch In Givenchy Couture GrammysFlorence Welch, who’s a lover of the dramatic and detailed, didn’t disappoint in a head-to-toe emerald green look at Sunday’s 2013 Grammy Awards at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

The dual nominee walked the red carpet in a custom gown that was modified from a Givenchy Fall 2009 Couture design.

Offering a fresh and oversized spin on the studded trend, the gown lit up the night’s events with a full-on sequined design. Adding a sultry element to the dress was a thigh-grazing slit that showed just the right amount of skin.

The singer accessorized with matching green strappy sandals and a box clutch, also by Givenchy. In addition to a bevy of rings, the look was finished with gilded nails, a moody red lip colour and face-framing strands of the singer’s famous red locks.

This is the perfect gown for Florence! So nice to see her try something new. She looks amazing head to toe.

  2. NooG February 11, 2013 at 03:15 #

This is one of my favorites from tonight – LOVE this on her.

  3. Christine February 11, 2013 at 03:17 #

    She looks spectacular.

  4. Liz February 11, 2013 at 03:20 #

Amazing dress!!! How lucky she is to get a Givenchy gown custom made for her.

  5. Jessica February 11, 2013 at 03:22 #

So different and fresh! I really do love this, one of my favourites!

  6. ash February 11, 2013 at 03:25 #

The spikes and the shade of green reminds me of dinosaurs, she looks stunning anyway.

    • Zenzo February 11, 2013 at 03:48 #

I was hesitant to comment as I thought i’d be the only one who read reptile fromt this look.
I will add though, that she’s the only person I can think of who this gown remotely suits

      • Moxie February 11, 2013 at 12:47 #

Reptile was my first thought. She pulls it off, though.

        • Victoria February 11, 2013 at 13:06 #

          A green dragon lady :)

    • Marybeth February 11, 2013 at 03:50 #

My thoughts exactly — and I agree that she still looks good!

  7. Angela February 11, 2013 at 03:26 #

This is perfection. I love the rebel/rocker chick vibe I’m getting, and it is so effortless. I could imagine Jessie J wearing this and having a worse impact because Florence has a mysterious aura that comes off her. Favorite of the night, and probably bested my fave from the BAFTAS.

  8. Pedro February 11, 2013 at 03:33 #

    She looks amazing!

  9. Camila De Souza February 11, 2013 at 03:57 #

She is also wearing Sorellina jewelry!

  10. Ellie February 11, 2013 at 03:58 #

My mind immediately went to dinosaurs, too. :/

Maybe if it wasn’t green? It’s a gorgeous colors though. Chop off all the spikes and she would have been one sexy lady!

  11. NotAgain February 11, 2013 at 04:00 #

PERFECTION! My favorite red carpet look of the year so far!

  12. the ogre February 11, 2013 at 05:46 #

only she can pull off something like this! it’s brilliant! hail florence!

  13. Yeliz February 11, 2013 at 06:59 #

She looks fantastic. I agree with the ogre, only Florence can pull this off.

  14. msd February 11, 2013 at 08:27 #

The dress is amazing but I really wish she’d done something different with her hair. It needed to be slicker and sleeker.

    • Marybeth February 11, 2013 at 13:29 #

I thought the same thing at first glance but upon reflection think she made the right decision. The soft hair gives the look a romantic, medieval touch — an air of mystery and femininity. Slick hair would end up being too sci-fi and cold.

  15. tasha February 11, 2013 at 08:44 #

color, shape, accessories, hair, make up: amazing.
    i’m in love.

  16. Alex February 11, 2013 at 09:32 #

This is red carpet couture at its very best!

  17. Beta February 11, 2013 at 09:55 #

WOWWW AMAZING!! I still havent finished looking through all of the looks but I already know this is one of the top three if not the best!

  18. Victoria February 11, 2013 at 11:02 #

I love this look for her, edgy, dramatic and still pretty.

  19. Jess2 February 11, 2013 at 11:12 #

Love this head to toe! The colour is amazing, as are the edgy details.

  20. jeremyrain February 11, 2013 at 11:41 #

She dressed like a true “rock star” without the cheap exposure that we use to see in a lot of A-listers.

  21. anjos February 11, 2013 at 11:54 #

It’s rare that you see a modified version of the dress that looks more interesting than the runway version. Fabulous.

  22. EmmaWoodhouse February 11, 2013 at 13:32 #

As some others have said, it feels very reptilian/dinosaur like. Other than the slit–which doesn’t work for me–I still don’t like this look. It’s kind of creepy and alien though I do love the color on her.

  23. L February 11, 2013 at 16:03 #

Best of the night by far it was fun and fabulous without being tacky,

  24. Alina February 11, 2013 at 16:15 #

    Just OK for me.

  25. serapart February 11, 2013 at 16:54 #

I dont like it, mainly because of her face expression, she coudlve smiled once in a while… :/

  26. MaddyEliza February 11, 2013 at 16:56 #

Hate the studs/spikes. But at the same time, they’re perfect for her style and this dress might be a little too plain for her without them. On pretty much anyone else, the dress without the spikes would be absolutely perfect, but this is Florence were talking about. So overall…I’m loving this look!

  27. Nat39 February 11, 2013 at 18:59 #

Hideous, one of the worst of the night for me. It’s shiny, it’s full-on green, it has studs and spikes, her matchy-matchy all green styling isn’t helping, it’s so ott reptilic and one-note green. The green suits the red hair, I get it, but she went overboard with it. Awful. Big thumbs down from me.

  28. justme February 11, 2013 at 19:18 #

She is serving dragon couture realness. It’s original but sadly, I don’t like this dress.
I also think that her hairstyle doesn’t fit the vibe of it.

  29. TeaAtTwo February 11, 2013 at 19:39 #

The Grammys is one of the few places I’d like too see these studs. It gives quirkiness to the glamour of the rest of the dress. I love the green with her red hair.

  30. arang February 11, 2013 at 20:44 #

I realize I’m in the minority, but I really hate this dress. Usually love Florence’s quirky style, but the intensely shiny green and those spikes make me think of dinosaurs or of armor from some scifi/fantasy show or computer game. Lol! Clearly I know too many geeks.

  31. MatBer February 11, 2013 at 22:06 #

    Best dressed of the Grammys.

  32. MG February 12, 2013 at 00:23 #

SHe reminds me of Ninja turtle

  33. Stacey February 12, 2013 at 00:29 #

Florence does it again! That dress looks fantastic on her! She pulls off that futuristic lizard lady look!

  34. Mana February 15, 2013 at 23:55 #

Beautiful, that’s it. She nailed it.
