Katy Perry is on fine form at the moment. Who’ve thought that John Mayer would be such a calming influence on her?
Continuing to impress on the red carpet, which landed her the Most Improved 2012 title, the singer was at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California yesterday evening, for the 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala honoring Bruce Springsteen.
Katy was radiant wearing an Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 orange halter gown with a multi-coloured bejewelled neckline.
You may remember that Emily Blunt wore this dress last year, with equally impressive results.
Katy didn’t opt for many detracting accessories; just stud earrings which don’t dazzle as brightly as her amazing gown.
Flawless makeup and side swept raven tresses completed her look.
I wonder if quirky Katy will come out to play at the Grammys tomorrow?

She looks enchanting. I loved this gown on Emily and I also love it on Katy. It fits her amazingly and I love her simple styling.
Agreed. For me this is one her best looks to date. I hope she keeps it up.
She looks amazing, but seeing it side-by-side with the look book makes me wish she had kept the belt.
I agree with Tanya, it would better w/ the belt.
This is beautiful. It fits her amazingly and I love the colour!
As on Emily, the cutaway side and back may be too revealing, but otherwise I love this bright, elegant look. It’s so sleek and flattering, and Katy looks great. Most improved indeed.
I am loving this Katy <3 She looks SO good
She looks nice. She looks happy.
She is killing this dress! Katy hasn’t looked this fierce in a long time. But as with Emily, I wish she had worn a belt. (Not necessarily the one from the presentation, but A belt nonetheless.) Could’ve used some definition in the waist area to tie the whole look together. Still a huge improvement though.
She looks stunning and really hot!
LOVE
damnn did not expect this from her. it might have come off too halloweenish, had she added the belt
She looks amazing, but I think the cut of dress suited Emily better, as she is not as curvaceous as Katy.
Katy looks beautiful, but I don’t think you can re-wear something like an ORANGE gown (especially A McQ) that someone else (Emily Blunt) wore so strikingly beautiful. It’s like, “Didn’t I just see someone in this dress”? Not really the impression you want to leave. Maybe if she had worn it in a different color.
Without the dazzling belt, it’s just a boring, plain dress.
How unfortunate, her style used to excite me..
This is a big moment, I have been waiting for this.
The dress and hair is fine, but the real difference is she finally changed the eyeliner! She looks like a new person without that terrible eyemake up that she ALLWAYS had on. Love it Kate, keep up the variation!
:O Have you seen close shots? Her foundation is really thick and her liner goes all the way around her eyes like a racoon. It’s a mess.
Yes, I saw it, but its a different mess than the ususal one!
The makeup is terrible. And the dress!!! I think it doesn´t fit her very well making some strnge wrinkles.
I think she looks absolutely amazing! I really really love this, I think the colour is fantastic on her!
Love it!
Looks stunning! Better than Emily
I missed the belt on Emily and I also miss the belt on Katy. But the dress looks lovely.
Her makeup though? OMG it is caked on, it’s unbelievable :S
I love this. I think she was wise to omit the belt in favor of the longer, sleeker line that the unbelted dress has.
Her girls could use just a little more support, but it’s not a major problem.
Absolutely love this!
Beautiful, but I wish someone would wear it with the belt.
