Sadly, this is the best picture I could find of Hilary Swank attending the Vienna Opera Ball, held at the Wiener Staatsoper in Austria yesterday evening.
The few pictures of her on the red carpet had burly bodyguards surrounding her, not allowing anyone to take her picture, which surely defeats the purpose of her being invited – but I digress.
What should’ve been a beautiful picture of her on the red carpet is a paparazzi picture of her leaving the Hotel Bristol.
My greatest disappointment is the harsh flash photography, which blurs the exquisite detailing on her nude Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown.
Elie Saab and Hilary Swank has always been a winning combination and this outing, flash photography aside, is no different.
Simple and elegant is always the best way to go in a stunning embellished gown, and that’s the route Hilary took, with neutral makeup and simple stud earrings completing her look.

+2, I don’t see her with such romantic dress, and I don’t like the color on her.
She looks a tad washed, but the gown is gorgeous, hope she was working it in a more graceful manner on the red carpet.

Really too bad about the flashbulbs.. that’s all we see..I think this would be The Dress otherwise
I love this gorgeous gown on the model, but not on Hilary. The bodice looks weird on her. Maybe it’s the unfortunate picture, but I’m not wowed by this look.
I don’t like the hair and make-up.
This look is missing the “wow” factor it clearly has the potential for. Maybe the slicked back hair is just too severe off the runway, or maybe the plain background is dragging the otherwise regal gown down to earth.
The gown is exquisite and styling it like the runway was the best route but maybe it’s the pic or Hilary’s strong features but some of the princess magic of the dress is lost.
